The world´s first all-electronic highway. How does it work? 407 ETR is the first toll highway in the world designed as an open-access, all-electronic system. At the highway´s access points vehicles pass through a gantry which detects if they have a valid electronic transponder. Entry and exit points. The highway´s barrier-free desing and reduced congestion save users an average of 30 minutes per journey at rush hour. The cameras capture clear images regardless of the speed or position of the vehicle: Toll collection sensors, lighting system, cameras, locating antennas. Safety and environment. The 407 ETR complies with all the provincial environmental standards: Any damaged facilities are repaired within 24 hours of an incident, water management to minimize loss and improve quality, fencing to protect animals, meteorological sensors, 24 hour snowplow service, animal crossing, trucks spray salt brine a 30% product-saving.
