This award, which was presented for the first time this year, recognises the integration of equality policies as a fundamental part of flexibility policies.

In the first edition of the Awards for Promoting Sustainable Transport and Mobility, the Madrid Transport Consortium recognized Ferrovial in the Private Sector category for the implementation of mobility plans at its offices.

Ferrovial held its 2012 Shareholders' Meeting, at which Chairman Rafael del Pino advocated maintaining investment in infrastructure as "an ideal approach for stimulating the economy and creating jobs".

Ferrovial worked with Plan España to refurbish a primary school in Apokor, Uganda, which has more than 1,000 students. The funds Ferrovial allocated to this project were based on the company's 2011 Employee Satisfaction Survey.

Built by Ferrovial Agroman, Ferrovial's construction subsidiary, and managed for 20 years by Gesmat, in which Cespa and Consorcio de Servicios Medioambientales de Toledo are the major shareholders, the new waste management facility has the capacity to annually treat up to 250,000 tonnes of waste from the 650,000 residents in Toledo province.
