The President of Ferrovial, Rafael Del Pino, has participated in the laying ceremony of the first stone of the I-66 highway in the state of Virginia, USA. This project has a total planned investment of 3.550 million dollars, an extension of 35 kilometers and a concession period of 50 years.

It is the fifth managed lanes project developed by Cintra in the United States. The construction, in which Ferrovial Agroman participates, will end in 2022.

In the act, along with the president of Ferrovial, Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe, as well as several members of the State Department of Public Transport and Rail, and federal, state and local partners have participated.

McAuliffe, Governor of the State of Virginia, said that:

“The project that begins will stimulate economic growth and improve the quality of life for travelers throughout the region of northern Virginia.”

He also pointed out that it will create hundreds of jobs for state residents, with the goal of 75% of new project employees being local and veterans.

The project will reduce traffic congestion, offer safer travel options, new passenger parking lots and bus services, and greater connectivity to major destinations along I-66.
