Take part in the first Autonomous Robots for Construction International Challenge

Infrastructure company Ferrovial and Ennomotive, an open innovation company, are launching and organising the first Autonomous Robots International Challenge within the specialist robotics technology fair Global Robot Expo, to be held in Madrid from 2 to 4 February 2017.

This international challenge seeks to encourage engineers to submit projects for the development of a prototype robot which will in future serve as an autonomous materials transport vehicle in large construction works. The prototype must be of the Arduino or similar type, sensorised using IoT (Internet of Things) technology.

Ferrovial and Ennomotive will shortlist 10 of the best projects submitted to the competition in the first two days of the Global Robot Expo. On 4th February, the last day of the event, an exhibition will be held for the general public, showcasing the capacities of the shortlisted autonomous robots, after which prizes will be presented to the winners.

Robot technology is set to have a significant impact on infrastructure management, and Ferrovial is therefore currently working on applying it in all of its business areas. For example, it recently presented its A1A3 street cleaner robot at the Barcelona Smart City Expo. This robot is currently undergoing a trial period on the streets of Barcelona. A robot model is also being tested in Glasgow Airport for helping passengers.

Ferrovial’s Innovation area delivers a large number of innovation projects annually in areas such as Big Data, Artificial Intelligence, 3D Printing, Robotics or Drones.
