Community involvement
The two usual components of social
commitments are industrial relations and a
companys community involvement. They
often include activities of general interest,
such as the arts, culture and historical heritage
conservation. Ferrovials community
involvement is based on the following principles:
We must give social issues the importance which society attaches to them.
Priority must be given to safety and to the appropriate
employment conditions and relations, not
just in the company but, progressively, at suppliers.
Social dialog must be developed at a global and
local level. Team work must
stimulate social and economic development and
access to employment, especially
for those who find it most difficult
to enter the job market.
We must commit ourselves to defending and respecting
human rights, an area in which companies
play an increasingly prominent role due mainly to globalization.
