Main events in 2001 and 2002
18/01/2001. Ferrovial Inmobiliaria to sell homes in El Corte Inglés stores. The move, the first of
its kind in the Spanish real estate market, marks the launch of a new channel for property sales
that will complement the traditional channels.
19/02/2001. Ferrovial sells its car park subsidiary in Portugal. The sale operation generated
capital gains of over 31%.
9/03/2001. Ferrovial boosts growth of Bristol airport by adding airlines. GO, a British Airways
subsidiary, will set up its second base of operations in Bristol, which increases traffic by over
24% with respect to 2000.
12/03/2001. One hundred and five Ferrovial executives included in its stock appreciation
rights system.
19/03/2001. Ferrovial is awarded its second toll road in Portugal, the Scut del Algarve. Ferrovial
strengthens its position in Portuguese transport infrastructure concessions, with nearly 250 km
of shadow toll roads.
6/06/2001. Budimex, Ferrovial´s Polish subsidiary, lands a contract worth €138 million, the
largest ever in Warsaw.
4/07/2001. Ferrovial Inmobiliaria acquires Don Piso, Spains leading realtor group. The
acquisition diversifies Ferrovials range of property products and services (property brokerage,
rent-controlled apartments, mini-developments, and home rental).
23/07/2001. Ferrovial sells Uni2 stake to France Télécom, the operator´s majority shareholder.
In three years, Ferrovial has tripled the value of its investment and obtained €40 million in capital
gains.
29/08/2001. Autopista del Maipo issues US$ 421 million in bonds in the United States.
Ferrovial,through Cintra, has completed the financing for all its road infrastructure projects on
Route 5 of the PanAmerican highway in Chile.
30/08/2001. The 407 ETR in Toronto, Canada, concludes two new sections, adding 39 km to
complete its total length of 108 km.
4/09/2001. Ferrovial strengthens its concession business as the worlds third-largest toll-road
operator (Macquarie Infrastructure Group) acquires a stake in Cintra.
21/12/2001. Grupo Ferrovial reinforces its presence in Europistas by acquiring 3.48% of the
capital stock. Ferrovial,through Cintra, owns 32.48% of Europistas.
28/12/2001. Ferrovial strengthens its Facility Management business through the acquisition of
Eurolimp. Enhances its position as one of the top five companies in the facility cleaning market
in Spain.
29/12/2001. Ferrovial acquires 15% of toll road operator Autopista del Sol from Europistas. The
deal enables Cintra, Ferrovials concession subsidiary, to increase its stake in Ausol to 75%.
15/01/2002. Ferrovial and Australian company Macquarie Infrastructure Group formalize their
alliance in the toll road business. MIG subscribes €816 million capital increase to acquire 40%
of Cintra, Ferrovials toll road subsidiary.
25/01/2002. Joaquín Ayuso appointed chief executive of Grupo Ferrovial in place of Santiago
Bergareche, who will remain on the Board as an independent director and has also been
appointed Vice-Chairman of the company.
