Moving Large Loads

This activity takes place in civil construction works and in the construction of large infrastructures. It requires specific techniques and machinery in order to guarantee good project execution and worker safety

Lifting materials and moving heavy machinery and high-tonnage items is common when constructing large structures or singular buildings. Said movements include moving on level surfaces, turning on the vertical side, turning or rolling an item over without damaging it and lifting or lowering any type of load. Each one of these movements requires its own unique technical approach.

Machinery for Moving Loads

Rotating and lifting platforms, stage lift systems and jacks (usually hydraulic) are commonly used in civil engineering. Companies such as Tecpresa work with a wide range of jacks: double acting cylinders, hollow cylinders, security ring jack, tilting wedge cylinder, etc.

Lifting Engineering

With their respective differences, each machine allows for one type of movement with heavy loads. This discipline is so large that there is something called lifting engineering (or heavy lifting) that is based exclusively on studying, designing and executing the maneuvers needed to lift and position objects.

The most common machinery used in building construction work is the crane/jib crane. In ports with containers construction the most common is the Luffing crane. Nevertheless, when it comes to bridge projects, singular construction or large construction, a catalog of mobile platforms and elevators are used.

This type of machinery tends to be very powerful, work at low revolutions per minute and move at very slow speeds. Their strong point is that they safely transport heavy and large objects. Safety is always our top priority, more so than speed.
