Discovery Place Education Studio provides customized professional development in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) to educators across the region. A key focus area for I-77 Mobility Partners is STEM education so the partnership to support the Education Studio is a perfect fit. The Education Studio began in 2014 and since then, more than 15,000 teachers from the Charlotte region have taken advantage of STEM training and education classes.

In addition to the Education Studio partnership, I-77 Mobility Partners’ staff also participate in providing educational opportunities for the public in the Discovery Place Science Museum at different times in the year.
I-77 Mobility Partners also is an annual sponsor of the Discovery Place “Touch a Truck” public event for children to see, touch and climb in all kinds of trucks, cars and specialty vehicles and learn about different careers. Discovery Place Kids educators also guide children through the science of trucks with hands-on, interactive STEM activities.

The new I-77 Express Lanes provide drivers with a choice of how to travel on I-77 between Uptown Charlotte and Exit 36 in Mooresville.
The express lanes are dedicated travel lanes that will run adjacent to the existing general purpose lanes. The project is divided into three sections:
- Two express lanes run on I-77 in each direction between Charlotte and Exit 28.
- One express lane in either direction run from Exit 28 to Exit 36 to minimize environmental impacts on Lake Norman.
By converting the current High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes to Express Lanes, more vehicles will travel more quickly through the north corridor. During each trip, motorists will be able to decide if they want to use the express lanes, the general purpose lanes or a combination of both to allow for a more efficient drive.
Connecting communities in North Carolina
Our projects serve as an economic engine for growth, supporting the well-being of the communities where we work and live. We worked with the consulting firm, Steer, to prepare the Economic and Community Impact of Ferrovial’s Toll Roads report.
The study measured the economic value generated in the regions we invest in and the benefits received by travelers from the start of each concession until December 31, 2022.
