slot=\"maincontent\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Project<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Through its design and construction of 80 homes, 8 commercial premises,  150 indoor parking spaces and 80 store rooms on Plot rc-19 \u201cAR Nuevo Tres Cantos\u201d in Madrid, Ferrovial was aiming for greater and better sustainable construction measures. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Various actions were implemented to achieve<strong> improvement in building sustainability<\/strong>, some of which were:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The physical location and orientation of the building, allowing cross ventilation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Underfloor heating and cooling with exclusive use of low enthalpy geothermal energy<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>System for reuse of gray water from wash basins and showers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use  of recycled concrete for the whole structure, thereby committing to  sustainable materials, using an inert waste material and avoiding the  extraction of new raw materials from quarries or river beds<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Separate sanitation networks, including collection and reuse of rainwater through water tanks<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Planting of low water-use vegetation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pre-installation of charging points for electric cars in garages<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use of LED lights and energy-saving bulbs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>All of these measures will bring about estimated <strong>energy savings of 481,862 kWh per year<\/strong>, a reduction in <strong>CO<sub>2<\/sub> emissions of 110.39 tons<\/strong> per year compared to other similar buildings, and savings in <strong>water consumption of between 6,500 and 7,000 m<sup>3<\/sup> per year<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because of the sustainable building construction measures used, this 80-apartment building has achieved the<strong> A certification<\/strong>, which is Spain\u2019s highest energy performance rating, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/new.usgbc.org\/leed\">LEED Platinum<\/a> certificate, becoming the first residential building in Europe to achieve such distinction. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/m-wysiwig>\n\n\n    <m-projects-distributor2 :translations='{\n
