CPD Telefónica


  • In Spain, 2014 ended with the commissioning of the Etxebarri Storm Tank in Bizkaia and the opening of the A&E, Rehabilitation and Health Space of the San Juan de Dios Hospital in Tenerife. Other major project contracts won are construction of the new access roads for the Port of Barcelona and the building of Granada’s new hospital, the Sanatorio Nuestra Señora de la Salud.
  • France saw an extension of the ITER project, with award for the design and construction of seven further buildings in Cadarache.
  • Poland: Contract for construction of the new coal generator at the Turów power station, and opening of two waste water treatment plants (WWTP): Gorzów Wielkopolski, with a capacity of up to 24,500 cubic metres serving a population of 239,800; and Siedlce. The S5 motorway between Poznan and Wroclaw was finished, and works began for the building of the new Conference Centre and offices of the Provincial Government of Lublin.
  • In the UK, Heathrow’s new Terminal 2, designed to the highest safety and sustainability standards, was officially opened. Ferrovial also won the bid for the Northern Line extension of the London Underground from Kennington, with two new stations, Nine Elms and Battersea.
  • In the USA, the North Tarrant Express (NTE) came into operation, a unique project in its category as a dynamic toll road. Presence in the USA was consolidated with the design, construction, financing, operation and maintenance of the extension to the I-77 highway in North Carolina.
  • South America: In Chile, work began on the building of the Los Condores hydroelectric power station for Endesa; and our company won the bid for Line 6 and the annex to Line 3 of the Santiago de Chile underground. In Brazil, work began on the construction of the Serra do Cafezal motorway between the municipalities of Miracatú and Juquitiba.
  • Australia: Winning bid for design and construction of the Warrell Creek – Nambucca highway.
  • Growth continues in Saudi Arabia, with a winning bid for the widening and improvement of the Abi Bakr as Siddique motorway.


  • The company was awarded the contract for the 3rd phase of the Marqués de Valdecilla Hospital in Santander and the University Hospital in Móstoles, both in Spain. The company completed TELEFÓNICA’s Mega Data Centre, in Alcalá de Henares, Madrid, and commissioned the Aguilas-Guadalentin desalination plant in Murcia, one of the largest plants of its kind in the world, with a production capacity of 210,000 m3/day.
  • In South America: The company was awarded the contract to expand the BR 116 toll road, between Sao Paulo and Curitiba, Serra do Cafezal in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and to build the section of road connecting Carrera 80 in Medellín and the access to the Pacific Ocean, in Colombia. We built section 4 of Santiago Metro’s line 3 in Chile, and were awarded the contract to upgrade quay 3 in the port of San Juan.
  • In Australia, we landed the contract to upgrade 4.2 km of road in an area of great ecological value: Nelson Bay
  • In Canada, we were awarded the contract to build the Nipigon Bridge, a two-span 252 metre cable-stayed bridge.
  • In the US, we reinforced our presence with the extension of the North Tarrant Express highway in Dallas, Texas.
  • In Poland, we built one of the country’s largest cultural centres, in Lublin; an industrial copper production complex in Głogów; and the Gdańsk metropolitan train, which improves the connection between Gdańsk and Gdynia and the Lech Wałęsa airport. Other notable awardings include the Tomaszów Mazowiecki waste water treatment plant and the Warsaw drinking water plant. The Krzyż – Dębica Pustynia section of the A1 toll road measuring 34.7 km was completed in 2013.
  • In Oman, we built the Al Ghubrah desalination plant, and were awarded section 5 of the Batinah road project, which measures 41 km.
  • In India, the Hogenakkal drinking water treatment plant was inaugurated, with capacity to treat 170,000 m3/day.
  • We also upgraded the M8, M73 and M74 motorways in Scotland.
  • Awarding of the project to build 11 buildings in the Tokamak complex as part of the ITER project in Cadarache, France.


  • Awarding of the project to design and build the US 460 toll road in Virginia, USA, and the 407 East Extension road project in Canada.
  • The following notable contracts were obtained in Spain: Madrid-Galicia high speed rail link, Olmedo-Pedralba section (157 million euro, in a JV with 28%), the A-66 highway between Benavente and Zamora (146 million euro, in a JV with 50%), and the Padornelo-Lubian tunnel (92 million euro) and Del Espiño tunnel (83 million euro) sections of the Madrid-Galicia high speed railway.
  • Inauguration of the SH130 in Texas, USA.
