College Station, Texas
The Pecan Trail Intermediate School is a two-story, steel frame structure on a pier and beam foundation with a carton form slab. There is a brick façade and a modified bituminous membrane roof.
The scope of this project includes an administration office, kitchen, cafeteria, library, classrooms, lecture halls, computer labs, restrooms, and four mechanical rooms.
Adjacent to Greens Prairie Elementary School, the design features neighborhood learning communities, each with its own collaboration space, computer lab, and professional learning studio. Utilizing the neighborhood learning community concept allowed for introduction of natural light to support student achievement. Public spaces like the gymnasium and cafetorium were designed for use by various community groups in a secure environment during non- school hours.
Jon Hall, Executive Director of Facilities at College Station ISD stated, “We are very excited to be opening the beautiful new Pecan Trail Intermediate School! The facilities are incredible and will provide our students and staff with an amazing and collaborative learning environment. This is a school our district and community can take great pride in and we look forward to it being a place where students grow, learn, and feel valued.”
