Job Description:

The role

A Cloud Infrastructure Architect is a holistic thinker who drives and evolves a complex technical vision with their deep knowledge of the Cloud. Able to straddle business and technical concerns, creates options and solutions that address business needs and longer-term strategic concerns. This role will be part of Cloud Community of Excellence and will have a key contribution in defining and deploying cloud strategy, guidelines and best-practices across the organization with special focus on US toll roads. This role will be part of the multidisciplinary team with resources from other IT areas (security, data…), enabling from strategy to execution. It will report to the Head of Cloud inside the Technology department and will have a key role in guaranteeing that digital products and apps meet the highest quality standards and follow corporate strategy and guidelines. He/she will be a key player throughout the whole product lifecycle from design to operations.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic influence across groups, projects and products based on Azure Cloud and AWS to implement cost-effective technology solutions to solve complex business problems.

  • Co-create with the Core Cloud team, and leaders a long-term vision and cloud strategy for the organization.

  • Act as enabler for the Cloud teams of the corporate Cloud strategy and Cloud governance, putting focus on the 5 pillars of the Well Architected Framework:

    • Security

    • Cost

    • Operation Excellence

    • Reliability

    • Performance
       

  • Work with development and architecture teams to guide and govern the architecture, providing expertise, guidelines and evangelizing best practices.

  • Lead proofs of concept with external partners to test new solutions or components.

  • Act as a thought leader to influence and collaborate with other areas on cloud, and infrastructure engineering to build a DevSecOps and agile culture.

  • Be part of the RFPs process, ensuring the technical part of the processes.

  • Work with the teams to make sure that the system is well operated, providing technical expertise on areas like: Finops, backups, patching, monitoring of the resources, capacity planning, etc.

  • Spread Cloud automatizations defined by the Core team, in order to make sure that the operation is based in an automatization strategy.

Requirements:

  • At least 5-years’ experience in large Cloud solutions is a must.

  • At least 3-years’ experience in delivering Azure based Cloud Platforms is a must.

  • Able to communicate business drivers to technical people.

  • Cloud-native application development (PaaS, Serverless technology, API management, microservices).

  • Ability to present technical materials effectively to diverse stakeholder groups and to engage effectively with executives on both technical and non-technical matters.

  • Experience on operation based in automation (e.g. Ansible, Jenkins, etc.) and IaaC (Deployment Manager, Terraform), DevSecOps, version control (e.g. Git), CI/CD (e.g. Jenkins, or TFS, or Travis CI), containers (e.g. Docker, kubernetes or OpenShift

  • Excellent project management and stakeholder management skills, with a focus on translating business requirements into technology solutions.

  • Demonstrated ability in technology partner management practices including the ability to lead vendors/partners in managing cloud environments.

  • Essential very high level / bilingual / native English.
