Ferrovial Construction is internationally recognized for its capacity to design and build civil engineering and construction projects, mainly in large transportation infrastructure. Its track-record to date includes more than 490 km of tunnels, 19,200 km of roads (including 4,000 km of highways), 4,700 km of railroad lines (including 700 km of high-speed railroads) and 27,350 km of road maintenance and repair.

Project Description: 

The Ontario Line South Civil Project is responsible for the design, construction and handover of all tunnels, stations and civil works between Exhibition Station and a portal location within the Don Yard. This includes, without limitation, seven Stations (one at grade and six underground stations), 6 km of Tunnels, a range of civil works and ancillary building works, and successful handover of the constructed South Civil Contract assets to the Sponsors.

Position Description:

The Stations Area Manager will direct construction activities for one area of the project, including, but not limited to, demolitions, underground excavation, structural, architectural and mechanical/electrical works for all the stations located within the designated Area. The Stations Area Manager shall have the overall responsibility for site administration and coordination of site operations, quality control, health and safety, and schedule and cost control for field operations of one area of the project.

Responsabilities:

  • Read, understand, and plan according to the work specifications and contract responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, manage, maintain, and administer all processes related to construction.

  • Support to the Design team in the study of construction alternatives.

  • Direct all area construction activities.

  • Manage and coordinate subcontractor works

  • Anticipate project conflicts, communicate preventative action plans, and implement solutions to avoid issues

  • Represent the company and the project in meetings and negotiations with the client and other stakeholders.

  • Ensure safety is carried out throughout the construction process.

  • Ensure compliance with quality requirements and standards.

  • Ensure construction schedule is met.

  • Define the procurement needs for the Area in terms.

  • Support to the procurement team in the definition of Scopes of Work for subcontracts to be awarded. Review bids and select subcontractors for awards of work.

  • Create, update, review, and maintain budget for the Area, including the preparation of the monthly closing and forecasts.

  • Understand and plan work according to project plans, change orders, shop drawings, subcontracts, purchase orders, and monthly pay estimates

  • Partner with Human Resources and other departments to manage staff through the employment life cycle.

Requirements:

  • Civil Engineer

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience including similar positions in major urban infrastructure projects.

  • Experience in Tunnel and Terminal construction projects required.

  • Proficiency in the use of standard Microsoft Office products

  • Excellent Leadership and Business Management skills

  • Highly proficient in spoken and written English
