Job Description:

At Ferrovial Construction we are looking for civil engineers with different experience profiles for our office in Austin (USA) in our design department. In this experience, you will be able to develop your career in an international environment and work on some of the most relevant civil engineering projects being carried out in the United States.

Main tasks/responsibilities:

  • Perform and/or review calculations by others and design drawings, according to codes and standards and additional contract criteria.

  • Performs checks and due diligence of designs performed by subconsultants or clients

  • Ensure quality and accuracy of the design deliverables

  • Makes technical decisions, thinks independently to complete assigned work, and draws engineering conclusions.

  • Assist in Project Management task as budgets, schedule or quality control.

  • Contributes to develop design optimizations.

  • Estimates bills of quantities (Including generation of quantities and performing Quality checks on quantities by subconsultants).

  • Working in a multidisciplinary environment, actively communicating with the rest of Ferrovial Team also involved in the design and construction works to identify needs and evaluate alternative solutions.

  • Supports workload deadlines for on time submittals

  • Assists on field observation work when necessary.

  • Performs other duties as needed related to the scope of work described above.

  • Presential position based in Austin (Tx), an initial period in Spain could be considered.

  • Traveling up to 20% of the time

Required qualitications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, with a focus in structural engineering

  • Be able to communicate in English via verbal and written communications

  • Experience in the analysis and design of structures required.

  • Demonstrated qualities of leadership and hard work.

  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents, drawings and specifications.

  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Must possess strong attention to detail and can work in a fast-paced environment; an eagerness to learn and apply your engineering skills to develop creative problem-solving designs/ideas

  • Strong commitment to high standards, integrity and ethics

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MSc degree in structural engineering.

  • Familiarity with AASHTO design standards and/or knowledge of DOTs structural design standards is desirable.

  • Knowledge and practical experience in Bentley Environment (Microstation, OpenBridge Modeler, Projectwise, etc) preferred.

  • Knowledge and practical experience with design software as Open Bridge Designer (former Leap Concrete&Steel), SAP2000, SoFiSTik, etc. highly preferred
