Universities and Research Centres
Ferrovial has formalised cooperation agreements with a number of research centres and universities worldwide.
These agreements with universities and research centres allow the company to work with exceptional talent in different fields, thus bringing added value to our infrastructure and services projects.
Agreements with universities
Ferrovial has permanent or long-term agreements with universities to boost innovation. Some examples are:
- Cornell University (USA), in support of the Cornell Program in Infrastructure Policy and to promote research and knowledge on transport policy.
- McGill University (Canada) and, particularly, the Department of Civil Engineering and Applied Mechanics, in order to collaborate in research on the Mitacs (Accelerate) programme and / or Mitacs (Elevate) programme to analyse the social wellbeing system of the alternatives for expansion of road capacity.
- Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile through the Ferrovial Agroman chair, where graduates receive specific training on technical issues, as well as on issues such as Prevention, Quality and the Environment, and are offered the opportunity of an initial professional experience through an internship training programme at Ferrovial Agroman.
- Madrid Technical University (UPM), the aim of which is to find solutions for the challenges arising at Ferrovial with the support of researchers and start-ups from the University.
AGREEMENT WITH THE MASSACHUSETTS INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY (MIT)
Agreements with research centres
- Centre for Innovation on Smart Infrastructures CI3 is a pioneering entrepreneurial initiative in its field, with an organisational model based on three founding bodies: the public administration (Castilla-La Mancha Regional Community, JCCM), the university (University of Alcalá) and private enterprise (Ferrovial) to support the development of information and communication technologies applied to infrastructures. CI3 in effect bridges the gap between research knowledge and its practical application to production. The main aims of the CI3 are to create an enabling environment for the development of smart R&D+i projects which are environmentally efficient and have social applications in urban and inter urban environments.
- The Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) is a public-private Research and Technology organisation in the UK, which brings together engineers from both companies to deal with business and technological needs and the challenges existing in the field of automation. The agreement allows Ferrovial access to and use of MTC’s facilities and resources, advice from experts on the various technologies being used, the possibility of developing proof of concept and pilot tests for Ferrovial businesses, and access to information on the latest technologies available in Industry 4.0, advanced automation and inspection and, in particular, technologies for the manufacture of additives using all types of technical materials.
