It is the market-leading unmanned autonomous long-range drone that will carry multiple sensor arrays including GPR, HD video and still, IR, thermal and LiDAR. The Flying Wing can take off and land anywhere, travel far, fast and change direction, precisely mapping the same route over and over, regardless of weather conditions. It can take off vertically, hover, spin, and fly at speeds of up to 60km/h. With sophisticated radar, GPS and collision avoidance technology, the Flying Wing is set to transform asset inspections of infrastructure like roads and railways, as well as in the utilities, maritime and oil and gas industries.

Under the AmeyVTOL banner we are set to become the first drone organization to fly autonomously, bringing a transformation of service delivery into a number of sectors: electricity and Oil&Gas distribution, rail and transportation, logistics etc. All business services that rely on inspections over a large surface area (airports, roads, bridges, railways, cities, etc). This project is currently in its development phase and the first prototype drone will be ready for operation in 2017.
The key challenges to achieving autonomous beyond visual line of sight drone operations include the ability to detect and avoid cooperative and non-cooperative traffic and multiple types of obstacles-, appropriate datalinks for command and control (the identification, allocation and protection), cyber resilience (in order to mitigate against theft or deliberate use of the drone), human factors, to manage the transition towards effective solutions regarding contingency and failure management, validation to the regulator and high precision navigation.
Finally, the milestones reached are: the technology roadmap sees the launch of the Flying Wing in 2017, with autonomous flight being achieved in 2018. The Flying Wing is undergoing rigorous testing and is in the final design stage.
