Who Are We?
Southern Crushed Concrete specializes in demolition and recycling, providing an environmentally responsible option for construction projects.
We have been producing recycled concrete and crushed concrete, sand, bull rock, and base for the construction industry since 1991. Demolition, renovations, and new construction all generate tons of concrete and asphalt debris. Most then require new concrete once the re-building or building phase starts.
We want to keep all that debris out of the landfill. This is why we recycle it into efficient and cost-effective products that work for a wide range of projects. We estimate that through our recycling program we have saved about 1.5 million cubic yards of landfill space each year. How does the environment benefit beyond the landfill savings?
- Saves natural resources. Recycled concrete and asphalt reduce the need for gravel mining, coal, oil, and gas.
- You save water. One ton of recycled cement can save about 1400 gallons of water
- Reduces Carbon Emissions. That same ton of recycled cement saves 900 kg of CO2.
- Reduces Pollution. When you use recycled materials as the base for roads, you eliminate the need for trucks to remove debris and bring in new raw materials from distant quarries.
But recycling is not just good for the environment, it’s also good for the contractor. Using recycled products helps cut construction costs and reduce gasoline usage. Because we use waste from the area near the construction site, we also reduce traffic congestion and air pollution making your workers and the community safer.
Commitment to Our Community
Beyond public and private projects, we are very active in the community, helping with rubble removal from hurricanes and industrial areas in Houston, as well as helping to build a local little league baseball parking lot at no cost.
