Most water is purified for human consumption, but there are industrial uses for purified water as well. Medical, pharmaceutical and chemical applications may require purified water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because you cannot see bacteria, viruses, and other contaminants with the naked eye, you can&#8217;t just look at water and determine if it is safe. Boiling water or using household filters are not always enough for treating everything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Governments and international bodies set the standards for drinking water quality. Those standards include minimum and maximum contaminant concentrations, depending on how the water will be used.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How is water purification done? <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Some methods used for water purification are&nbsp;coagulation, sedimentation, filtration, and disinfection. Active carbon filters are used in drinking water purification to remove offensive taste and odor.
