After the first lead-acid batteries, nickel-iron batteries were used; currently, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ferrovial.com\/en\/stem\/lithium-ion-battery\/\">lithium-ion battery<\/a> technology has advanced enough to allow performance that makes the transition to an electric vehicle fleet viable.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Electric motor:<\/strong> converts electrical energy from the battery into mechanical energy to propel the vehicle&#8217;s wheels.
