Job Description:
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking an experienced Substation Lead Construction professional to oversee the delivery of high-voltage substation projects across Australia. This role is critical in ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality construction execution in compliance with Australian standards and project specifications. You will lead site activities, manage contractors, and coordinate with engineering and project teams to achieve successful outcomes on time and within budget..
KEY RESPONSABILITIES

Lead and manage the construction of high-voltage substations (up to 500kV), including civil, structural, and electrical works.

Supervise site activities, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and environmental standards.

Coordinate with engineering teams to resolve technical issues and ensure constructability.

Manage subcontractors and suppliers, monitoring performance and compliance with contractual obligations.

Oversee installation of primary equipment, protection systems, and auxiliary services.

Conduct site inspections, quality checks, and progress reporting.

Ensure compliance with Australian standards, utility requirements, and WHS regulations.

Support project scheduling, resource planning, and cost control.

Act as the primary interface between construction teams, project managers, and clients.
QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience).

Minimum 7 years of experience in substation construction leadership roles.

Proven track record in delivering high-voltage substation projects in Australia or similar markets.

Strong knowledge of Australian standards (AS/NZS) and WHS requirements.

Familiarity with substation equipment installation and commissioning processes.

Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications
DESIRABLE SKILLS

Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) or eligibility for Engineers Australia registration.

Experience with major Australian utilities or EPC contractors.

Knowledge of environmental and planning approval processes.

Familiarity with HV testing and commissioning procedures.
