Job Description:

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a highly experienced High Voltage Transmission Line Design Engineer to lead the design and delivery of overhead transmission line projects across Australia. You will play a key role in ensuring technical excellence, compliance with Australian standards, and successful project execution from concept to construction along with cost optimization.

KEY RESPONSABILITIES

• Lead and/or supervise the design of high voltage overhead transmission lines (132kV–500kV).

• Perform and/or supervise detailed engineering calculations for conductors, structures, foundations and clearances.

• Develop and review design documentation, drawings, specifications and reports.

• Ensure compliance with Australian standards (AS/NZS), utility requirements, and safety regulations.

• Conduct design risk assessments and constructability reviews.

• Interface with clients, project managers, construction teams, and regulatory authorities.

• Support tendering, cost estimation and technical proposal development.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Civil Engineering (Master’s preferred).

• Minimum 2-3 years of experience in overhead transmission line design.

• Proven experience in Australian or similar international power networks.

• Strong knowledge of relevant standards (AS/NZS 7000, AS 1170, etc.).

• Experience with design software such as PLS-CADD, PLS-TOWER, AutoCAD, and GIS tools.

• Strong communication, leadership and client management skills.

• Experience in EPC or utility-side projects highly regarded.

DESIRABLE SKILLS

• Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) or eligible for Engineers Australia registration.

• Experience working with major Australian utilities or transmission operators.

• Knowledge of environmental and planning approval processes.

• Familiarity with construction methodologies.
