Our team is responsible for providing all resources to Amey for bidding from a commercial, estimating, work winning, funding, financing and investment management perspective.

The Role

Sitting as part of Investments, our Work Winning Services team (WWS) provide bid support services to all Amey business units, from Highways, Rail and Consulting, to Environmental Services and Facilities Management, Defence and Justice. We are looking to appoint a Bid Writer to join our team of talented bid professionals; someone who will support the creation of high-quality content and ensure our bid submissions are accurate, consistent and aligned to the client’s requirements. You’ll be responsible for working with the Amey Business Unit Bid Managers and Bid Coordinators to promote best practice bidding principles and ensure Amey’s values, brand and tone of voice are reflected, while developing compelling bid content to achieve maximum evaluation scores.

Responsibilities

As Senior Bid Writer, you will be responsible for:

Undertaking your own research and extracting information from subject matter experts, to plan, structure and write high-quality, customer-focused bid content, including drafting answers ‘from scratch’ and conveying complex ideas and solutions clearly and succinctly
Driving development of bid value proposition, win themes and client ‘hot buttons’, and ensuring these are reflected appropriately throughout our bids
Maximising ‘readability’ through excellent written communication skills, including use of Plain English and by being concise
Supporting and educating bid teams on best practice, such as effective bid writing, storyboarding and the bid review process
Building relationships across our team and the wider business, including with a network of subject matter experts company-wide, and using these relationships to maximise your output.

Person Requirements

Degree-level qualification or equivalent, and the ability to demonstrate your written and editorial skills through a well-constructed CV and samples of your own work
Experience of writing, proofreading and copyediting – and a strong commitment to accuracy, consistency, quality and high standards, often despite tight deadlines
Previous experience working in a Pre-Contract Bid environment or Work Winning Services function highly beneficial
Good interpersonal skills with confidence to challenge and escalate issues appropriately
Strong time and project management skills with ability to prioritise
Confidence in your verbal and written communication – to liaise at all levels to support development of well-written bid content
The flexibility to be able to work outside normal working hours, and across UK locations, when bid team and timetable requires it.
