What is the purpose of this role?

Inspector/ Clerk of Works required for the A77 Maybole Bypass. This position will be site based and is required to ensure the successful delivery of the A77 Maybole Bypass MTRIPs contract through assisting in the supervision and administration of all aspects of the construction.

What will this role involve?

Assist with responses to RFI submitted by the Principal Contractor, with assessment of potential impact of the response regarding the Contract Documents, Programme and Contractor claims;
Review Drawings, Specifications, Schedules and the like submitted through the Certification Procedure for compliance with the Contract Documents and appropriate standards;
Review the appropriate Method Statements, prior to monitoring the works, providing comments to the Contractor on perceived issues with compliance with the certified design and / or concerns over safety;
Coordinate with Inspectors or other site staff with the supervision, inspection, witnessing, monitoring and surveillance of site activities – signing off on same where authorised;
Carry out regular monitoring and reporting exercises on specific locations, subjects and works activities or other current matters of interest – as directed or required by Engineers Representative / Senior Site Staff;   
be aware of, and react to if necessary, Health & Safety issues as they relate to site works and the public interface, raising Near Misses, Close Calls etc.
Undertake reviews of the Contractor’s material submissions for incorporation into the permanent works with checks on compliance with Contract and Design Specifications
Monitor compliance of the Contractor’s Quality Management Plan including but not limited to the provision of material testing in accordance with the Specification

What are we looking for?

Relevant site experience in a similar role on major transport infrastructure projects.
Extensive experience in monitoring contractors’ quality systems and supervising of the contractors works which shall include bulk earthworks, carriageway drainage, SUDS construction, pavement works, ITS, safety barrier, traffic signs and landscape / finishes.
Attention to detail and sound knowledge of Quality Control and implementation of Quality Management Systems
CSCS Card – essential
Excellent record keeping skills for daily reports etc.
Technical knowledge of road works 
Knowledge of maintenance works 
Good knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety and CDM 2015
IOSH working safely or equivalent (SMSTS)
Environmental awareness
