Purpose of the role

The Purpose of this role is to advise on the environmental and sustainability requirements of the assigned account and for developing, implementing and monitoring the environmental performance of the sector, as well as supporting wider environmental and sustainability aspects with the Utilities business. As an Operational Environmental Advisor, you will provide the support and advice for the Account teams to deliver in accordance with the ISO14001:2015 Environmental Management System, BU Environmental Strategy and Clients Requirements.

Experience

  • Experience of a diverse and complex operating business, ideally in the Utilities sector
  • Providing proactive and professional support in relation to Environmental compliance and best environmental practice.
  • Implementing and monitoring an ISO14001 Environmental Management Systems
  • Formulation of effective compliance and improvement plans (such as Construction Environmental Management Plans, Water Management Plans etc.) aligned to our environmental strategy and our account requirements

Has experience in developing and implementing new working methods and initiatives that improve environmental compliance across the business.

Knowledge

Technical and professional information or qualifications needed to perform job activities

  • A strong understanding of environmental management legislation to include pollution prevention, management of waste, ecology, carbon and water. Especially working with the CAR Regulations.
  • An understanding of planning legislation & requirements for the sector

Desirable

  • A full and current driving licence
  • BSc/BA or equivalent in Environmental Management or a related science subject.
  • Mid-level qualification and membership of a professional institution (Associate / Practitioner IEMA or similar)
  • An internal ISO14001 auditing qualification
