What is the purpose of this role?

To work within the external affairs team to:- develop proactive media opportunities to support new business development opportunities- Shape and manage the reputation of Amey’s reputation through traditional and social media channels, using proactive and reactive techniques- Oversee a 24/7 press office

What will this role involve?

• Oversee and manage reactive and proactive media communications for Amey as well as Amey’s other subsidiary brands as necessary• Manage a team to deliver Amey’s 24/7 press office including media relations activity, enquiry management, systems and processes and normal office hours and out of hours services.• Oversee all media monitoring including print, broadcast and online • Be part of the issues management team and work with the relevant business leads to plan for and develop an appropriate response to issues and crisis • Prepare news releases, articles, briefing materials and statements as necessary • Develop a strong network of contacts internally and externally in order to leverage support and gain positive coverage for the business• Ensure that all senior management are kept updated on media coverage and are sufficiently briefed for all press facing interaction• Manage the design of a media stakeholder contact program for senior management and support regional activity • Oversee Amey’s media buying activity, all ‘paid for’ features • Oversee all of Amey’s social media activity. • Support regional/divisional PR activity relating to bids • Analyse coverage and measure media effectiveness through the use of KPIs • Manage defined campaigns through the media • Manage Amey’s social media channels including content and use by creating and implementing a social media strategy

Qualifications • Comms qualification (degree, CIM, CIPR, diploma)Skills• Commercial acumen with a good business knowledge and understanding • Creative problem solving and prepared to think ‘outside of the box’• Good analytical skills • Excellent writing skills • Strong influencing skills• Solid media skills and experience Experience• Experience within comms or marketing• Experience of leading and managing a press office function• Experience of liaising with senior internal and external stakeholders• Crisis communications experience • Political comms knowledge would be an advantage
