TRU is a once-in-a-generation rail upgrade programme to deliver faster, longer, more frequent and more reliable rail services across the north of England, from Newcastle, Hull and York towards Manchester and Liverpool via Leeds. By connecting the major cities of the North with an enhanced, more reliable service, it has the potential to impact the lives of thousands of passengers and support economic growth across the whole of the north of England.
Amey, in partnership with Arup, BAM and Network Rail is upgrading the route between Manchester and Leeds, which includes civils, track, railway systems and electrification. The opportunity to use modern digital signalling and train control also means we can lay the foundation for the Digital Railway.
Working with Amey on TRU is essential for anyone serious about a career in rail. You will be pioneering new techniques, using the latest technology and helping us set new standards for collaborative working.
What is the purpose of this role?
To provide general support to the Rail Systems Team with an efficient and effective administrative support service
What will this role involve?
Place Orders using SAP ECC6 – Stationery, PPE, Materials (including site-based orders)
GRN all orders once received
Track all orders & Costs
Raise INFRA requests for all new starters, order I.T equipment, mobile phones, software etc.
Track and chase up site inspections
Keep all Contacts & distribution lists up to date
Book travel using Go2Book (Trains/Hotels)
Book all external meeting room/events
Fuel cards – Track costs used each week by pool vehicles
Process training requests
General Admin duties
Reception cover if/when needed
What are we looking for?
Ability to multi task
Experience in appropriate IT packages
Good time manager
Strong organisation skills
Good communication skills (verbal and written) including excellent telephone manner
Experience of working with a team
Sound railway background and knowledge of railway geography
Recognised qualification in keyboard associated skills and office management techniques
Knowledge and experience of records management
