Amey Rail have a new role for a Senior Buyer to support a their IPEM Framework which has multiple projects across its portfolio.
The Senior Buyer will be primarily based in the Framework office in Derby but will be expected to travel to sites. They will be given and made responsible for all project procurement responsibilities to deliver and carry out cradle to grave activities. The role will also involve liaising and working closely with the Framework Procurement Manager and Group functions.

The role will encompass:

Familiarising themselves with the Project Procurement Strategy created by the Procurement Manager and complying with its direction
Working to the Procurement Roles and Responsibilities matrix
Managing and monitoring Procurement Schedules on a regular basis
Applying all necessary corporate governance
Issuing ITT documents to the supply chain and securing best offerings (safety, delivery and cost) from the supply chain
Ensuring all necessary subcontract documentation is in place up to award/pre-let meetings and drafting/negotiating subcontracts as required
Ensuring supplier performance monitoring is carried out by project personnel and feeding scores into the system
Liaising with the Group Procurement on supplier approvals and ensuring smooth back office processing of subcontracts and orders
Maximising Intercompany Trading where identified in the Procurement Strategy 
Supporting the Framework Procurement Lead on ad hoc tasks in support of the overall Framework /other live projects as required  
Interfacing with all other project functions /stakeholders/ chairing procurement progress meetings /managing bid plans etc…   
Managing and administering supplier contact lists and capability records.

What will this role involve?

This exciting new opportunity will be suited to an experienced Senior Buyer who is able to work autonomously or with minimum supervision. The nature of the role means that the individual will need a mature approach and broad ranging experience to ensure the successful delivery of medium-high risk/value packages. Ideally you will be from the construction sector with a background in surveying /engineering although candidates from other sectors /backgrounds with transferable skills will be considered.
