Key Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate the S&C design throughout the design and construction technical life cycles, working with the design and construction teams, the S&C supplier and stakeholders. Ensure the S&C design comply with the appropriate client’s standards applicable, including construction design management (CDM) regulations.
- Responsible for the S&C design delivery aspects for high-speed track contract, including integration of PW and any TW / temporary stages, integration of assurance and managing the delivery of the associated digital deliverables, in line with the construction and overall project programme, cost and client requirements. The track systems S&C scope include the development of several types of S&C across numerous locations, and implies coordination with CMS, other rail system elements as well as with the civil works designs.
- The candidate will be responsible for coordinating the designers and the supply chain inputs needed to achieve an efficient and compliant design for the S&Cs.
- Close liaison with the Designer to ensure the design delivery on time, optimized and in accordance with the Client’s requirements is essential. This will also require working closely with supply chain and the client’s subject matter expert and other contractors. The role involves contributing to the management of the associated interfaces.
- Attend the weekly meetings with the construction team and broader design team and client in Birmingham and/or London.
- Attending / chairing meetings for S&C design related issues during design and construction and provide technical support for their mitigation.
- Support the client with identifying change, risk and opportunities and constantly striving for efficiencies and cost savings.
- Aid in the study of optimization and liaison with the commercial, planning, design delivery teams, and designers.
- Support the link and coordination with construction teams for management of S&C related issues.
- Provide technical input and support to relevant commercial communications (SNCs, NCRs, CEs, Departures, etc.).

Key skills and experience
- Degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering (or related field).
- Chartereed IMEC, PWAy Institute or CEng ICE desirable.

- A sound understanding of rail design codes for S&C.
- Knowledge of safety and environmental legislation, impact mitigation and dealing with statutory authorities.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate the acoustic design development and control of noise and vibration throughout the design and construction technical life cycles, working with the Employer, Designers’ Noise and Vibration team, suppliers, and other contractors delivering other parts of the track system and stakeholders.
- Responsible for the N&V design aspects for a high-speed track contract. The track systems N&V scope includes the selection of a track system to mitigate the ground-borne N&V as far as reasonably practicable, comply with the client’s environmental minimum requirements, taking all reasonable steps to ensure that environmental impacts are no worse than those stated in the Environmental Statement and achieve the above by demonstrating that the insertion gain (IG) is equal or better than the criteria set out in the client’s specifications for each area.
- Close coordination with other design disciplines and components of the track and rail systems components design, and liaison with the Designer to ensure the delivery on time, optimized and in accordance with the Client’s requirements is essential. This will also require working close with stakeholders and other contractors delivering other parts of the track system.
- The candidate will be responsible for leading the N&V design aspects relevant to the works.

Qualifications
- Ten (10) or more years of heavy highway and civil construction as a superintendent.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Ability to communicate in English via verbal and written communications using proper grammar and spelling.
- Preference will be given to those who are bilingual in English and Spanish.
- This position requires the ability to clearly and effectively communicate via E-mail, presentations, and reports.
- Moderate level of computer skills in MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, and internet search engines.
- Mathematical proficiency as it relates to basic accounting, geometry, algebra, and mathematics.
- Move throughout a construction jobsite which includes minor obstacles including climbing ladders and inclines, operating a truck, lifting up to 50 pounds

Location: Heathrow Airport
Ferrovial Construction has been working at Heathrow Airport for over 12 years delivering some of the most complex infrastructure projects to high quality, safety and environmental standards. We have focused on design and build projects with a mix of contractual arrangements. This has enabled us to refine our management procedures in response to Heathrow’s Employers Requirements and Ferrovial Construction own internal management systems.
Since joining Heathrow’s framework in 2008, Ferrovial Construction has delivered a variety of airside and landside projects across the whole airport. For example, we have delivered new taxiways and rehabilitated existing taxiways and the southern runway. We have also redeveloped sterile and grass areas and replaced critical assets, such as fire main, fuel main and HV ducts. We are currently working alongside Heathrow to rehabilitate assets with expired design life’s and plan for a future runway resurfacing project. We are constantly designing and planning our works around critical assets and engaging with different key stakeholders in order to deliver Heathrow value for money.
Role Overview and Objectives
Responsibilities:
Safety, Health, Environment & Sustainability

Production of Method Statements Task Briefing and Risk Assessments to be approved by supervising engineers

Contribution to production of all Permits to works, including briefing to the workforce

Carries out Safety Inspections

Hazard Identification and contribution to development of Safe System of Work

Know the company procedures and statutory regulations relating to environmental and waste management issues. Carry out necessary monitoring under the guidance of others.
Dimensional/Spatial Control

Provides dimensional control for a section of the works

Undertakes as built surveys for a section of the works and presents results in format that can be included in project records if required

Establishes and maintains secondary control on the project from primary control

Checks dimension design data early, raising technical queries to eliminate delays from insufficient information

Section Engineer
Location: Heathrow Airport
The Role:
Section Engineer will be responsible for the management of the construction site in order to achieve required project delivery to the customers’ objectives, while maintaining standards of health and safety, quality, environmental impact and cost control.
They will deliver multiple on-going projects, to the specified quality, the required programme and to the maximum commercial performance.
The post-holder will work closely with the Commercial Department, engineers and surveyors to ensure that projects are completed in a safe manner whilst customer requirements and expectations are always maintained or exceeded.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set a high personal example of safety and environmental behavior.
- Supervise subcontractors, assistant and site engineers and work force, for instance ensuring they understand he RAMS before commencing the shift on setting out methods and techniques.
- Check the shift engineers setting out to ensure it is correct. Also ensure they are following their own responsibilities (testing materials, briefing operatives, filling in check sheets).
- Ensure reasonable survey book standards and daily diaries are maintained by engineers • Supporting their manager.
- Attending and sometimes running the coordination meetings with stakeholders and subcontractors.
- Ensure that the 3D information drawings and specification documents contain sufficient, accurate information for construction of the works. Formally request any missing information in sufficient time to allow the programme to proceed without delay.
- Ensure that inspection and test plans are completed and digitally recorded as required by the PMP / Specification, including a check of dimension accuracy and quality.
- Prepare and monitor a 2-4 weeks programme with the subcontractor and other suppliers
- Monitor the work under their control to ensure that any unsafe work conditions and non-compliance with company policies and procedures are promptly remedied.
- Also considering plant, labour, material costs and programme.
- Carry out material take off and requisitions as requested by sub agent / agent.
- Completing Method Statements / Inspection Test Plan / MAR/ Task Briefings and reviewing such documents that have been prepared by others.
- Order materials and maintain register of all orders placed and confirmed.
- Completing Temporary Works Design Briefs and Inspecting temporary works structures once the training has been received.
- Maintain good working relations with client / designer / RE, together with our supply chain.
- Communicate with foremen and gangers to ensure full understanding of information provided.
- Confirm in writing, on the same day, any verbal instructions issued to subcontractors and ensure that comprehensive records of resources employed on additional works are maintained.
- Ensure all delivery tickets are cost coded and passed to accounts dept. for processing.
- Carry out other relevant duties as required from time to time.
Key Skills and Experience:
- Successful experience at a management engineering level in construction (on site) specifically in civil engineering and/or utilities
- Demonstrated application of growing commercial and contractual knowledge
