Position Summary 

 

Responsible for maintenance, servicing and repairs of roads and other infrastructure assets.  This individual will be responsible for maintaining contracted assets (such as roadways, medians, signs, guardrails, fences, bridges, tunnels, vegetation, etc.) per standards in the contract and as directed by supervisor. 

*Please note – in order to support our road maintenance services, this role may be assigned to operations of equipment for winter as required.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Creates safe traffic control, per OTM Book 7, by setup and removal of traffic control devices including cones, message/arrow boards, temporary signage, etc. 

  • Basic maintenance and repair of bridge structures and facilities including railings, expansion joints, doors, and painting as required. 

  • Repairs/maintains functionality of roadway catch basins, sumps and pumps, fire hydrants and other mechanical assets through use of shovels and other hand or power tools and equipment. 

  • Transports crew and equipment to work sites operating vehicle large trucks and specialized motor vehicles and trailers. 

  • Carry out all duties in line with Company policies and procedures as amended from time to time. 

  • Maintain and repair highway and other surfaces including potholes, striping, adding or replacing reflectors, working with concrete and asphalt. 

  • Maintains clean appearance of highways and medians through litter and debris removal and disposal (may use litter claw or other device) including ice and snow by using snow removal and/or sanding equipment 

  • Repairs/maintains functionality of slopes, berms, culverts, drains, etc. through use of shovels and other hand or power tools and equipment 

  • Controls vegetation appearance and growth through use of lawn mowing equipment, hand or power trimmers, and chemical sprayers and other methods 

  • Maintains the appearance and functionality of signs, guardrails, fence, and lighting through repair and/or replacement using hand or power tools. 

  • Transports crew and equipment to work sites operating vehicle pickup trucks and specialized motor vehicles 

  • Required to be available and accessible for emergency response rotations as need for overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays

This position requires a highly developed sense of safety awareness and perceptive ability. You must have the ability to recognize hazards inherent in routine and non-routine tasks and make adjustments to avoid loss, injury or accident. I-77 Mobility Partners LLC is financing, developing, designing, constructing, operating and maintaining the 26-mile I-77 Express project as part of a public-private partnership with the North Carolina Department of Transportation. The tolled express lanes run adjacent to the general-purpose lanes on I-77 between uptown Charlotte and Mooresville. I-77 Mobility Partners is responsible for operations and maintenance of all lanes, both express and general purpose, and right of way within the designated project corridor limits.

Job Description:

**Candidate must be available to attend 4 weeks of paid training in Raleigh**

As theRoadside Assistance Technician, you will operate a high equipped vehicle for performing roadside assistance operations, such as accident management, abandoned vehicles tagging and minor assistances (tire change and provide fuel and/or water)An I-77 MP Traffic Management Center operator will be dispatching and assisting you during all events. You will also work in occasions with maintenance personnel, for providing them traffic control and other maintenance dutiesYou will receive a full training period and constant refreshers to ensure that the roadside assistance is performed on the safest way possible.  

We do require open availability; the coverage requirement is 24/7/365 instead of a specific shift. We will do everything we can to not assign people rotating or crazy shifts, but we do have to consider business needs.

We’re looking for team members that are available to cover multiple shifts when needed.

Functions key to success: 

  • Operates assigned vehicles (pick-ups) and 6-wheel trucks with mounted crash attenuators 

  • Inspects equipment for proper operating condition, makes minor repairs or adjustments, lubricates and assists in making repairs as required 

  • Excellent customer relationship and friendly approach to stranded vehicles 

  • Responds to traffic incidents, provides roadside assistance to motorists on I-77 between uptown Charlotte and Mooresville and available on-call after hours for emergency incident response, as needed 

  • Adapts easily to changes during the event and fast decision maker 

  • Performs miscellaneous duties, such as general traffic control, pavement repair, roadside assistance, pushing vehicles out of travel lanes and debris and animal carcasses removal

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License. Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is not required but the candidate should have the ability to obtain a CDL, if needed, in the future 

  • National Traffic Incident Management Responder Training Program (SHRP2 & TIM) and Incident Management Assistance Patrol (IMAP) NCDOT training will be preferred 

  • 0-3+ years of experience in general traffic control, and traffic management is desired 

  • Previous experience with roadside assistance vehicles such as emergency response and towing vehicles 

  • Basic knowledge of automotive mechanics

You will be frequently required to stand, walk, climb, drive, and sit for long periods of time during day and night operation. Provides leadership, direct and indirect supervision of maintenance crews while performing daily work activities of maintaining contracted assets. Position Summary

Responsible for the efficient and safe workings of the traffic flow through the roadways and tunnels, including the coordination and management of complex tunnel safety systems in response to incidents and Emergencies from the Tunnel Control Centers.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure safe, effective and efficient ongoing traffic operations, Maintenance of Traffic (MOT), incident response, and maintenance access of the Tunnel
  • Coordinate detection, assessment, and verification of incidents and emergencies
  • Provide accurate incident notification/dispatch to IRC and 911 dispatch communications
  • Communicate and transmit real-time traffic information to the TMC regarding any incidents or emergencies upon occurrence and coordinate the response of other supporting emergency agencies
  • Initiate appropriate action per the incident response protocol including operation of life safety systems and coordinated response to on-road incidents with incident response personnel and external Agencies in accordance with approved IMP's
  • Monitor roadway surface to ensure the tunnel is free from hazards and debris
  • Perform security monitoring of tunnel and equipment regularly
  • Participate in testing of TSI critical operational systems and tunnel emergency drills
  • Develop and maintain an expert working knowledge of the tunnel SCADA and TSCS control systems, including their criticality in performance monitoring, data accuracy, and availability metrics
  • Participate in frequent training opportunities including induction, cross skilling, toolbox, and NIMS
  • Keep work environment free of distractions
  • Participate in control room shift handover at end of every shift
  • Provide feedback on opportunities for implementing Better Way and Continuous Improvement
  • Assist with logging subcontractor and approved visitor access to the Project via the Tunnel Operations Center.
  • Avoids legal challenges by complying with federal, state, and local legal requirements.

  • Knowledge of traffic and real-time incident management operations (Preferred)

  • Must be able to change and adapt quickly within a constantly evolving and fast-paced work environment.
  • The candidate must possess strong focus and resilience working under pressure within very limited time constraints while balancing ongoing multiple priorities.
  • Ability to take appropriate action prior to arrival of first responders is a must. The individual should have strong communication skills.
  • The candidate will be flexible changing roles between leading as well as supporting other tunnel operators, responding entities, and maintenance response crews during all phases of incident management.
  • This position requires the ability to implement prescribed incident response emergency procedures. Must have the ability to recognize hazards inherent in routine and non-routine tasks and make adjustments to avoid loss, injury or accident.
  • Must be able to observe safety requirements in the workplace. Must be able to think clearly and focus on your safety in your immediate surroundings, while using tools and equipment, driving, or operating equipment. Will be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) appropriate to the tasks per site policy.
  • Comfortable with the frequent use of communication equipment, i.e. two-way radios and landline telephones
  • Comfortable with entering real-time data via computers
  • Comfortable in the operation, control, viewing, and interpretation of static screen displays and video systems displaying real-time information, images, and events at variable distances

  • Valid Driver's License with good driving record essential
  • Prior work experience in a transportation management / traffic operations control center preferred Serious consideration will also be given to applicants with a background in one of the following critical, strategic control center environments: 911 operator, first responder support, casino security, energy utility, or military/intelligence operations.
