Position Summary

Responsible for maintenance, servicing and repairs of roads and other infrastructure assets. This individual will be responsible for maintaining contracted assets (such as roadways, medians, signs, guardrails, fences, bridges, tunnels, vegetation, etc.) per standards in the contract and as directed by supervisor.

*Please note – in order to support our road maintenance services, this role may be assigned to operations of equipment for winter (if applicable) or summer operations as required.

The pay range for this position is $25–$27 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. 

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Creates safe Maintenance of Traffic, control by setup and removal of traffic control devices including cones, message/arrow boards, temporary signage, etc.

  • Must be comfortable working from heights in bucket trucks, scaffolding, ladders and aerial platforms lifts.

  • Basic maintenance and repair of bridge structures and equipment rooms including portals, railings, expansion joints, doors, and painting as required.

  • Repairs/maintains functionality of roadway catch basins, sumps and pumps, fire hydrants and other mechanical assets through use of shovels and other hand or power tools and equipment.

  • Repairs/maintains functionality of equipment room ventilation systems

  • Repairs/maintains basic electrical systems including emergency telephones, CCTV systems, electronic traffic signs, call boxes, lane signals, lighting,

  • Transports crew and equipment to work sites operating vehicle large trucks and specialized motor vehicles and trailers.

  • Required to be available for emergency response rotations as need for overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays

  • Maintain and repair highway and other surfaces including potholes, striping, adding or replacing reflectors, working with concrete and asphalt.

  • Maintains clean appearance of highways and medians through litter and debris removal and disposal (may use litter claw or other device)

  • Repairs/maintains functionality of slopes, berms, culverts, drains, etc. through use of shovels and other hand or power tools and equipment

  • Controls vegetation appearance and growth through use of lawn mowing equipment, hand or power trimmers, and chemical sprayers and other methods

  • Maintains the appearance and functionality of signs, guardrails, fence, and lighting through repair and/or replacement using hand or power tools.

  • Keep roadways free of debris including ice and snow by using snow removal and/or sanding equipment

  • Transports crew and equipment to work sites operating vehicle pickup trucks and specialized motor vehicles

  • Required to be available and accessible for emergency response rotations as need for overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays

  • All other duties as assigned.

  • Avoids legal challenges by complying with federal, state, and local legal requirements.

In 2016, the Commonwealth of Virginia selected a Cintra-led consortium to finance, design, build, operate and maintain the express lanes on Interstate 66 Outside the Beltway. The project will transform this critical Northern Virginia artery to relieve congestion, improve safety and provide more predictable travel times. I-77 Mobility Partners LLC is financing, developing, designing, constructing, operating and maintaining the 26-mile I-77 Express project as part of a public-private partnership with the North Carolina Department of Transportation. The tolled express lanes run adjacent to the general-purpose lanes on I-77 between uptown Charlotte and Mooresville. I-77 Mobility Partners is responsible for operations and maintenance of all lanes, both express and general purpose, and right of way within the designated project corridor limits.

Job Description:

**Candidate must be available to attend 4 weeks of paid training in Raleigh**

As theRoadside Assistance Technician, you will operate a high equipped vehicle for performing roadside assistance operations, such as accident management, abandoned vehicles tagging and minor assistances (tire change and provide fuel and/or water)An I-77 MP Traffic Management Center operator will be dispatching and assisting you during all events. You will also work in occasions with maintenance personnel, for providing them traffic control and other maintenance dutiesYou will receive a full training period and constant refreshers to ensure that the roadside assistance is performed on the safest way possible.  

We do require open availability; the coverage requirement is 24/7/365 instead of a specific shift. We will do everything we can to not assign people rotating or crazy shifts, but we do have to consider business needs.

We’re looking for team members that are available to cover multiple shifts when needed.

Functions key to success: 

  • Operates assigned vehicles (pick-ups) and 6-wheel trucks with mounted crash attenuators 

  • Inspects equipment for proper operating condition, makes minor repairs or adjustments, lubricates and assists in making repairs as required 

  • Excellent customer relationship and friendly approach to stranded vehicles 

  • Responds to traffic incidents, provides roadside assistance to motorists on I-77 between uptown Charlotte and Mooresville and available on-call after hours for emergency incident response, as needed 

  • Adapts easily to changes during the event and fast decision maker 

  • Performs miscellaneous duties, such as general traffic control, pavement repair, roadside assistance, pushing vehicles out of travel lanes and debris and animal carcasses removal 

  • Available on-call after hours for emergency maintenance service, as needed 

  • Performs miscellaneous maintenance on the I-77 Express Lanes Project as required. 

  • Performs miscellaneous building maintenance as required 

  • Any other job duties as assigned 

 

What you bring to the table: 
To perform this job successfully, you must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactory 

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License. Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is not required but the candidate should have the ability to obtain a CDL, if needed, in the future 

  • National Traffic Incident Management Responder Training Program (SHRP2 & TIM) and Incident Management Assistance Patrol (IMAP) NCDOT training will be preferred 

  • 0-3+ years of experience in general traffic control, and traffic management is desired 

  • Previous experience with roadside assistance vehicles such as emergency response and towing vehicles 

  • Basic knowledge of automotive mechanics

Job Description: Operates a rubber-tired, skid steer, or crawler type tractor with an attached scoop type bucket on front end. Machine is used to load materials from stockpiles, excavation, charging batch plants, loading and unloading tricks. May be used with attachments in lieu of the bucket.

Supervisor: Geotechnical Construction Manager

Job Description: Provides management for construction crew and their material, and equipment, ensuring that specifications are being followed, and work is proceeding on schedule. Oversee drill operators, whose responsibilities include performing daily checklists to ensure all well control equipment is fully functional and up to date. They set up and operate gun drilling equipment, making necessary corrections to keep production running in spec. They also load reels of fiber optic cable on flex track 150 plow cable six feet deep. Drill operators use hand tools and power tools to drill holes into materials depending on their types.
