Job Description:

Ferrovial Construction U.S. seeks a BIM Manager for the East region to manage 3D models while procuring multibillion-dollar infrastructure projects. Once awarded one of those contracts, the BIM manager will lead the BIM team through the detailed design phase and during construction.

Position Description

The position requires managing the 3D coordination process in design. Strong computer, technical, and communication skills are essential and required. Due to the collaborative nature of coordination using BIM tools, the candidate must also be able to seek out and resolve issues through close interaction with other project team members.

The BIM manager will coordinate with consultants and other disciplines regarding the 3D model to guarantee that it provides the necessary information following DOT, Concessionaire, and Construction requirements.

Responsibilities may include:

• Report to the Design Manager (Proposal Design Manager or VP during Tender), but working closely with Heads of Discipline.
• Prepare or manage 3D models for the tender and design phases. Receive and manage multiple designer and subcontractor models, mainly for coordination purposes.
• Provide team members and subcontractors with the most current coordinated information, facilitating the sign-off and submittal of coordinated areas.
• Run and analyze clash detection on the Project model (Coordinate designs among different disciplines: structures, architectural, MEP systems). Prepare and distribute clash reports to facilitate the coordination process. Communicate conflicts in the model, both real and potential.
• Maintain current and standardized job‐site files by timely and accurately preparing and disseminating BIM project documents information to team members.
• Facilitate coordination meetings with other team members, designers, subcontractors, or the Owner (verify that appropriate equipment is available to facilitate model review effectively).
• Coordinate with BIM software providers to implement the more advanced and valuable tools. The driver for advanced tools will be the resolution of real challenges.
• Assist the project team with construction coordination and scheduling. Prepare the model to implement the Schedule in a 4D model.
• Coordinate with Digital Construction to provide features in the design 3D model to implement future attributes.
• Compile Project BIM close-out documentation to be delivered to DOT and Developer.

Requirements may include:

• A college degree is preferred. Bachelor’s, or foreign equivalent degree in Architecture or Engineering.

• Minimum of eight (8) years of related BIM experience in the design/construction industry.
• A thorough understanding of all building and roadway systems, particularly the design and construction needs, to implement tools for improvement in the design process.
• Understanding design and document coordination.
• Knowledge of construction nomenclature and techniques (means and methods).
• Valuable knowledge: Bentley or Autodesk BIM software.

BIM Manager          

The role:

The BIM Manager will perform activities related to Digital Construction and Information Management in the project. Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager, the BIM Manager will be part of a team that will support him/her on those activities.

Information Management activities – Ensure the development and compliance of project requirements in accordance with the Exchange Information Requirements (EIR), Project BIM Execution Plan, the Information Management Plan and other related documentation.

Digital Construction – You will perform quality control on models and resulting deliverables, lead the spatial coordination and clash detection process and enhance the integration of the different parties involved in the project.

This is an exciting opportunity to explore additional uses of new technologies, tools and software in the construction industry.

Key responsibilities

• Developing and updating documentation (including but not limited to Lead Appointed Party EIR, BEP, MIDP), guides and protocols throughout all phases of the project and in alignment with client requirements and ISO 19650 series standards
• Ensures that all design, construction and handover information is compliant with the contract requirements and all applicable standards but not limited to ISO 19650 series
• Provides the focal point for all design, construction and handover information management issues on the project
• Be the contact point (for the area of responsibility) between the design and construction teams (including consultants and subcontractors)
• Ensure processes are fully compliant across the project
• Develop relevant documentation, for example briefings of the BIM Execution Plan (BEP) during design, construction and handover phases for relevant parties such as the project team, sub-contractors, sub-consultants and suppliers of the contractor, the employer and the supervisor
• Liaise with the document control manager and contribute to set up the CDE (e.g. Asite) according to the project procedures and taking into account document management structure, workflows, naming convention and final archive
• Ensure that all design, construction and handover information is managed through the CDE including the D&C phases. Prepare the documentation needed by the client in O&M
• Ensure other project team members, sub-contractors, suppliers and other relevant parties have the appropriate access to the CDE (during design, construction and handover phase)
• Coordinates the following areas in collaboration with other members of the team:
  • Outline what design, construction and handover information are required, by whom and for what purpose
  • Outline who will generate the design, construction and handover information and maintain it
  • Outline what actions should be taken on receipt of the design, construction and handover information
• Capture of lessons learned, best practices, and innovations
• Produce monthly reports to identify and measure information management & digital construction implementation
• Support the development and delivery of training programmes for our team members, supply chains and client
• Prepare and support audits
• Standardises data collection on-site through different technologies/tools and enhances workflows for visualization and reporting
• Support the design or engineering manager or HR for to recruit roles related to DC&DM – roles definition and carry out interviews
• Quality control BIM / CAD deliverables (such as, models and drawings) whilst taking into account information, requirements and best practices
• Lead the spatial coordination process. Coordinate the design & construction project deliverables against the construction programme (for the sub-contractors, including designers and specialists’ designers) to ensure delivery in accordance with MIDP. Manage the spatial coordination meetings and keep track of the issue resolution process
• Lead the clash detection process for project deliverables (including design & construction). Manage clash detection meetings and keep track of the issue resolution process
• Produce models to support design and construction works and develop 3D BIM models relevant to the project (i.e. design, construction works, temporary works, logistics). Produce visual Method Statements to highlight potential risks and prove the construction sequences
• Develop model quantity take-offs to assist quantity surveyors and other members of the team.
• Develop 4D & 5D models of the project
• Develop visuals, such as images and videos to support communication with different parties in the project.
• Deliver presentations internally in the project or external events as required
• Keep a regular engagement with the Client and key Stakeholders
• Supporting the management team in shaping strategies, adopting new ways of working and accelerating progress through digital tools
• Manages the commercial aspects of the digital tools used for the activity
• Supporting project/design managers to make data-driven informed decisions and be aligned with the design/project programme
• Promote innovation, new ways of working, and enhancing workflows with the Design or Engineering Manager and senior management team

• Proactive approach in incorporating new technologies on site at different stages of the project
• Experience in reviewing and implementing processes, workflows and procedures for setting up CDE platform in major projects.
  • Knowledge of Asite would be ideal
• Must have experience in the following software:
  • Autodesk Civil 3D (expert level).
  • Autodesk Revit (expert level) including Dynamo developments.
  • Autodesk Navisworks Manage (expert level).
  • Bentley Navigator
  • Synchro
  • Office 365 (intermediate / expert level).   Power BI expert level will be positively considered.
• Experience in working with point clouds and topographical survey information

Job Description:

• POSITION SUMMARY 

  The VDC/BIM Manager leads the coordination, integration, and delivery of all BIM and 4D schedule efforts across the tender, design, construction, and handover for the O&M lifecycle. This position plays a critical role in aligning digital models with schedule, cost, QA/QC, and asset data, using platforms such as Bentley Synchro Pro, Synchro Modeler, and iTwin. The manager will ensure compliance with contract documents, DOT/SRTA requirements, and international BIM standards (NBIMS-US v4, ISO 19650). 

   

  KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • 4D Modeling & Construction Sequencing 

  • Develop, manage, and update the 4D construction model using Synchro Pro (.sp/.spx) aligned with Primavera P6 schedules (.xer). 

  • Generate and submit 4D simulations (AVI) highlighting: Critical path, In-progress activities  

  • Coordinate with schedulers to maintain alignment between 4D and cost-loaded CPM schedules. 

  • Validate construction logic, phasing, and means & methods through visual simulations and field review. 

  • BIM Management & Model Coordination 

  • Lead the coordination of design models in for civil and utility disciplines. 

  • Oversee model federation and clash detection using iTwin Model Review ensuring spatial coordination and construction feasibility. 

  • Manage Synchro Modeler workflows for work package visualization and 4D planning support. 

  • Maintain model standards, layer structure, classification codes, and metadata integrity in accordance with BIM Execution Plan. 

  • Coordinate with Survey, Utilities, and Structures for full model integration and GIS asset geolocation. 

  • 3D Model QA/QC & Auditing 

  • Conduct model audits to verify that the models meet all DOT and Ferrovial Construction requirements (Naming conventions, File structure, Level of Detail (LOD), etc…) 

  • Volume consistency with design plans 

  • Compliance with BEP and asset register formats 

  • Interface with design consultants and construction teams to resolve issues identified during BIM quality checks. 

  • Ensure 3D models support accurate quantity takeoffs (QTOs), cost tracking, and scope verification. 

  • O&M Model Preparation & Lifecycle Handover 

  • Develop and manage the digital twin structure for the O&M phase. 

  • Support tagging of asset elements with manufacturer data, installation dates, warranties, and maintenance requirements. 

  • Coordinate with ITS/Tolling and systems integrators to incorporate all elements like fiber optics, and electronic assets in the model. 

  • Deliver a fully federated as-built BIM model aligned with COBie orthe DOT-required asset data schemas. 

  • Submittal & Documentation Compliance 

  • Submit all digital deliverables (4D models, AVI simulations, .xer schedules, and model data) through DOT’s PMCS (e-Builder), following all file naming, versioning, and folder structure conventions. 

  • Ensure document control compliance per contract requirements 

  • Provide Synchro Open Viewer-compatible models to DOT/SRTA reviewers. 

  • Reporting & Stakeholder Engagement 

  • Produce filtered Gantt charts, S-curves, work package visualizations, and BIM dashboards for monthly progress reporting. 

  • Interface with Design Leads, Construction Managers, Survey, ITS, and Tolling groups for interdisciplinary alignment. 

  • Support lane closure visualization and planning to comply with Lane Rental Charge Reporting (Attachment 2-12). 

  • Train project team members in Synchro, iTwin, and model navigation tools. 

   

   REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor’s or master’s in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. 

  • 5+ years of BIM/VDC experience with at least 3 years in 4D modeling and digital delivery for infrastructure projects. 

  • Bentley Synchro Professional Accreditation 

  • Expertise in: 

  • Synchro Pro, Modeler, Control Admin and Field.  

  • iTwin  

  • ProjectWise 

  • Primavera P6 

  • Bentley OpenRoads Designer 

  • Proven track record managing federated models, coordinating across disciplines, and delivering 4D and O&M-ready BIM. 

  • Experience implementing asset tagging, digital twins, or workflows for infrastructure O&M.
