Your Role: Leading Structural Engineering Across Complex Infrastructure Projects

The Structural Engineering Manager will provide technical leadership across multiple divisions and project geographies, supporting project teams from concept through construction.

This role is ideal for a field-oriented engineering leader who thrives in a contractor environment—capable of delivering practical, buildable solutions at construction pace while ensuring compliance, quality, and innovation.

The successful candidate will take ownership of engineering decisions, collaborating directly with project teams, owners, and consultants to ensure successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the development and delivery of structural solutions across Webber projects, including bridges, waterworks structures, culverts, foundations, and temporary works such as falsework, shoring, demolition, and lifting plans.
• Prepare and seal structural calculations, drawings, and technical specifications in accordance with applicable standards.
• Review shop drawings and submittals to ensure compliance, constructability, and quality.
• Ensure designs align with project constraints, including schedule, cost, and site conditions.
• Serve as the primary structural engineering resource across all divisions, including Heavy Civil, Water, Infrastructure, and Energy.
• Conduct site visits to support construction activities and resolve field challenges in real time.
• Collaborate closely with Superintendents, Project Managers, and Project Engineers to deliver practical, field-driven solutions.
• Support estimating and business development teams by providing constructability input and alternative technical concepts, including Accelerated Bridge Construction (ABC).
• Manage external structural subconsultants, including scope definition, deliverable tracking, and quality assurance.
• Interface directly with clients, owners, and regulatory agencies to ensure alignment and compliance.
• Ensure adherence to applicable codes, standards, and project requirements.
• Mentor engineers and provide technical guidance to project staff.
• Promote engineering best practices, innovation, and continuous improvement across the organization.
• Participate in initiatives to enhance project controls efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
• Stay current with industry standards (AASHTO, FHWA, TxDOT, and others) and communicate updates to project teams.
• Lead and advance technical capability development within the organization.

Who You Are: A Profile of Success

• 8–15 years of structural engineering experience, with a strong emphasis on transportation infrastructure projects.
• Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering (master’s preferred).
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Texas (required), with the ability to obtain licensure in additional states.
• Experience in construction engineering, including temporary works design.
• Proven experience managing and reviewing external design consultants.
• Experience working in a contractor or design-build environment.
• Strong knowledge of DOT standards and procedures (TxDOT, NCDOT, or similar).
• Experience with complex bridge construction methods such as Accelerated Bridge Construction (ABC), segmental construction, precast systems, CIP on falsework, and drilled shafts.
• Proficiency with structural engineering tools including SAP2000, STAAD.Pro, RISA-3D, MIDAS Civil, or similar.
• Familiarity with bridge design software such as OpenBridge Designer, LEAP Bridge, PGSuper, or RM Bridge.
• Experience with foundation design tools (LPILE, AllPile, DeepFND) and engineering calculation platforms (MathCAD, MATLAB).
• Strong understanding of applicable codes and standards including AASHTO LRFD, FHWA guidelines, ACI, AISC, AWS, ASCE, and IBC.
• Field-driven mindset with the ability to operate effectively in active construction environments.

At Ferrovial Digital Infrastructure (FDI), we specialize in the development of data center assets, from powered-land search and acquisition to DC design, construction, and maintenance, and we are always looking for the most efficient and sustainable solutions. 

FDI has acquired a land plot in Madrid for the development of a Data Center, and we are seeking a manager to lead the development, construction and commissioning of the electrical and other utilities infrastructure.

Additionally, the role may require assistance to FDI Projects Development Team within the Business Development and Strategy related activities.

The ideal candidate will have a background in developing grid connection electrical infrastructure.  Panzer power & utilities manager will oversee the design and construction of HV/MV lines and substations, ensuring alignment with project timelines and energization strategy.   This role is critical to ensuring alignment with project timelines and the energisation strategy, requiring close coordination with stakeholders, contractors, and utilities. This includes liaising with third parties such as stakeholders, distribution companies, and public administration to define next steps, establish timelines, and anticipate potential blockers.

Strong leadership, technical expertise, and communication skills are essential to succeed in this role.

Additionally, the candidate will work closely with the Energy and Utilities team within Digital Infrastructure, actively supporting the Strategy and Business Development team.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Electrical, Mining or Energy Engineering, Civil Engineering or a related field. A master’s degree can be an advantage.
• Advance knowledge of high and medium voltage electrical systems.
• Strong understanding of Spanish Electric System, its regulations and particularities as well as possessing the ability and proactiveness to deal with other countries´, i.e. Poland, USA, etc.

• Proven track record and experience working with DSOs, TSP, suppliers and utilities companies for at least 3 years.
• Proven experience and knowledge in transmission/distribution planning applications, analysis and design.
• Experience in the design, permitting and construction of HV/MW substations and underground power lines.
• A deep understanding of power & utilities operating model and key business and technical challenges faced by utilities in current fast changing environment
• Experience in power line concessions and or business consulting is appreciated.
• Good understanding of Interconnection Agreements drafting
• Previous experience working with data center clients (e.g., hyperscale, colocation providers, or large enterprises) will be highly valued
• Ability to analyze complex situations, identify strategic opportunities for Ferrovial and develop actionable plans for pursuing these opportunities
• Ability to draft accurate support procedures, compile system documentation, and issue tracking entries while taking full ownership of technical issues

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the energy& utilities project lead of the new data center from concept to delivery, ensuring alignment with project goals and business objectives.
• Coordinate with engineers, contractors and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on project scope, objectives, and design.
• Develop and execute management plans, including resource management, cost estimation, scheduling and quality control.
• Supervise the design and construction of power & utilities infra, ensuring they adhere to best practices and timely and budget-aligned delivery of the facility.
• Conduct regular progress meetings and maintain up-to-date reports on project status, challenges, and milestones.
• Support, overview and manage complex, cross-functional HV infrastructure projects from site selection, permitting and contract execution, and keep project stakeholders informed to contribute to the performance of the team, building trust and respect in all working relationships
• Keep the projects’ progress under control by driving crisp and timely decisions, identifying and clearing blockers, and escalating appropriately
• Conduct negotiations with general contractors and evaluate bids/proposal participing in princing reviews for scope inclusions/exclusions and negotiate the cost of the work with developers, general contractors and design consultants
• Evaluate site Due Diligences, schedule tracking, and identify and solve factors that may impede a successful permitted project hand-over to Ferrovial stakeholders
• Analyse data and documents (deliverables) issued by all parties to ensure that fulfil the requirements. Ability to raise queries and track them down to ease the process.
• Monitor progress and performance to manage tasks completion according to pre-determined deadlines.
• Prepare detailed reports to reflect progress updates and present relevant findings to the team to assist with the decision-making process.
• Work collaboratively with other Ferrovial teams
• Ensure full compliance with Ferrovial´s guidelines, standards and policies throughout the whole process.

At Ferrovial Digital Infrastructure (FDI), we specialize in the development of data center assets, from powered-land search and acquisition to DC design, construction, operation & maintenance, and we are always looking for the most efficient and sustainable solutions.

FDI has acquired a land plot for the development of a Data Center, and we are seeking an experienced and strategic Engineering PM to overview, coordinate and manage the project, construction, and engineering as well as to provide direction, analysis and resolution of engineering challenges for our future facility in Madrid.

The role may require assistance to FDI Projects Development Team within the Business Development and Strategy related activities.

We are looking for an Engineering Project Manager with solid experience in the technical management of Data Centre projects. You will be responsible for leading the planning, coordination and supervision of all engineering disciplines involved in the design and construction of critical infrastructure, ensuring compliance with technical standards, deadlines and budgets, and providing support and reporting to the Head of Projects Development.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing large-scale construction projects from a construction angle with focus on data centers, critical infrastructure, and innovative solutions

This role requires hands-on project oversight during the construction phase, the final of the project, and the managing of the ready for services with the customer

Requirements:

• 5 years of experience in construction projects, especially in leadership roles in data centre projects in the construction phase.
• Strong attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
• Technical & Cost management and planning skills
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Fluent English and Spanish.

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Civil Engineering, Building Construction or related field is ideal.
• Previous experience in the construction sector and specifically in data center projects and / or large tertiary & industrial construction projects where MEP systems play a vital role will be highly valued.
• Exposure and knowledge about operating a data center, and of the project lifecycle
• Strong understanding building regulations, urban planning and environmental conditions and permitting processes incl. associated timescales.
• Proficient in Office 365 package expertise (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, PowerBI)
• Lean Construction knowledge and experience will be valued.
• PMP, PRINCE2 or similar certification (desirable).
• Ability to solve problems and make effective decisions.
• The following would be an asset:
• Previous experience in critical or mission critical environments.
• Knowledge of technical regulations applicable to Data Centres.
• Experience in international or multicultural environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the coordination of all technical activities of the project, as well as the planning, feasibility, evaluation and supervision of works for compliance with applicable codes, construction and transition phases.
• Establish and maintain project management methodologies, tools and templates.
• Reporting to the Head of Projects Development, on the status of the project under development, with details on progress, costs, risks, deviations, change orders, among others.
• Preparation of executive reports and dashboards to support Head of Projects Development.
• Identify risks and propose mitigation plans.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams on site in the development of project (engineering, general contractor, contractors, IT, operations, administration).
• Ensure compliance with local regulations and international standards (e.g. Uptime Institute, TIA-942, ISO 27001).
• Coordinate with the rest of the project development team in the Digital Infrastructure division.
• Coordinate internal and external resources for the execution of the project.
• Ensure the availability and appropriate allocation of resources at the final of the design of the project, and during the construction works.
• Conduct project status reporting and communicate progress to management.
• Ensure that the project are delivered on time, within scope and budget.
• Foster a positive and collaborative working environment.
• Analyse design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications.
• Coordination of the purchase of OFCI equipment, including the selection of manufacturers to manage purchasing agreements for the project. 
• Work on energy performance monitoring and reporting as well as to prepare reports for submission to senior management.
• Manage the commissioning phases making the coordination with GC, and other companies related with it, in order to ensure the deadlines of each.
• Ensure that the construction is developed within best practices related to land and sustainability due diligence and environmental compliance.
