Who is NTE, NTE 35W, and LBJ?

The North Tarrant Express (NTE) was the first design-build-finance-operate-maintain managed lanes project in Texas and consisted of the complete reconstruction of 13.3 miles of the existing I-820/SH-183 corridor between Dallas and Fort Worth. Since opening in October 2014, nine months ahead of the contracted completion date, the general highway lanes are experiencing a 70% decrease in congestion time and a 15% increase in average speed. This Cintra-led project has doubled capacity and significantly improved mobility along this heavily congested corridor that traverses the heart of six cities through Northeast Tarrant County.

The North Tarrant Express 35W (NTE 35W) project spans 16.8 miles from I-30 in downtown Fort Worth to Eagle Parkway at the north end of Alliance Airport. The project is operated and maintained by the Cintra-led consortium in North Texas. This project has improved mobility by adding additional road capacity through a combination of general highway lanes and continuous frontage roads, along with tolled express lanes that use variable pricing to keep traffic moving.

The LBJ Express (LBJ) is currently the largest P3 operation in Texas and one of the largest ever undertaken in the U.S. It is a regionally-significant transportation improvement project in North Texas that is relieving severe congestion in the dense urban area of north Dallas. In 2009, the Cintra-led consortium was selected to complete the design, construction, finance, operation, and maintenance of the project along I-635 and I-35E. Since opening in September 2015, the general highway lanes are realizing a 60% decrease in congestion time and a 10% increase in average speed.

Job Description:

The Field Service Technician will perform servicing, repair and/or installation of Toll Collection Systems (TCS), Intelligent Transformation Subsystems (ITS), Network Communications Systems (NCS), and various traffic management devices (Traffic Signals, Air Quality Monitors (AQM), First Responder Radio System (FRRS), Road Weather Information Systems (RWIS), Reversable Lane System HOV). The Field Service Technician provides field support including troubleshooting and repair of electronic equipment, systems, and wiring; installation of equipment; upgrades, modifications, programming; preventive maintenance actions; documentation.

Responsible for maintaining contracted assets (roadways, medians, signs, guardrails, fences, bridges, tunnels, vegetation, etc.) per standards and conditions specified in the contract as directed by the Patrol Supervisor.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performing duties of shift supervisor during the winter maintenance season.
  • Assisting supervisor in/or completing, as directed, the organizing/planning of work to be carried out on a daily/weekly basis,
  • Organizing work activities by arranging for appropriate equipment, material and labor.
  • Overseeing work operations insuring value for money is being achieved and the work is being performed in accordance with recognized safety requirements, standards, policies and procedures.
  • Providing leadership and training to junior Ferrovial Services staff, including instructions on safety techniques, methods and procedures.
  • Inspecting work performed by contract staff for compliance to standards and contractual agreement advising contractors of deficiencies and reporting on performance to supervisor.

Performs administrative activities in accordance with MTO and Ferrovial Services procedures by:

  • Completing, reviewing and maintaining a variety of records, covering work activities related to equipment operation and maintenance hours of work, and material usage (e.g. MMIS, daily inspection books, equipment time sheets, expense forms and reports on sand and salt usage/vehicle accidents/personal injury, etc.)
  • Assisting in the preparation and the ongoing monitoring of the weekly, monthly and annual work plan.
  • Providing information for analysis of contractor or public claims.
  • Liaising with property owners, the general public and individuals from organizations such as police, municipal and other Ontario Government Ministries, and utility companies for the purpose of exchanging information, promoting and maintaining good public relations and as applicable, ensuring compliance with Ministry and Ferrovial Services requirements.
  • Occasionally may operate any patrol equipment when deemed necessary for the efficient operations of the patrol.
  • Occasionally may carry out a variety of laboring tasks when deemed necessary for efficient patrol operations.

Performs related duties such as:

  • Acting for supervisor during absences.
  • Compiling and recording information for the Highway and Road inventory (e.g. number of entrances, bridges, kilometres of road, mowable hectares, etc.)
  • Investigating, reporting on and, when possible, resolving complaints from the public and others.
  • Patrolling road as assigned and reporting hazards and/or deficiencies.
  • Initiating Contract staff call-outs and administering hired equipment tenders.

  • Ability to use software packages for word processing, spreadsheet, database, electronic mail and critical path scheduling applications.
  • Job requires work to be performed within the Ministry and Ferrovial Services maintenance and operational policies and procedures.
  • Requires work to be performed with minimal supervision (follow up and periodic check in with supervisor to ensure that work as directed or needed is completed in accordance with policy); as direct supervisor is not present. About us:

North Tarrant Infrastructure, LLC is one of the subsidiaries of the Ferrovial Group in the U.S. It is currently working on several projects in the U.S., including the North Tarrant Express (NTE) Projects (“NTE Projects”). The NTE Extension Project is a part of the NTE Projects, which consist of a series of major highway improvements to the critical I-820 and SH-121/183 corridor in North Tarrant County, Texas. The NTE Projects will relieve congestion, improve safety, and provide for anticipated traffic growth in one of the country’s fastest developing regions. The NTE First Project was a $1.451 billion design-build project consisting of rebuilding the existing main lanes as well as adding four toll-managed lanes, frontage roads and auxiliary lanes in the corridor between I-35 West and Industrial Boulevard. The NTE Extension Project is the next part of the NTE Projects. The construction of the original $984 million part of the project (Segment 3A) was completed by North Tarrant Infrastructure, LLC, and the current $580.5 million part (Segment 3C) of the NTE Extension Project is presently being carried out by North Tarrant Infrastructure, LLC.

Traffic Control Assistant 

 

Summary 

The position of Work Zone Barricade will perform manual labor duties related to the execution of the traffic control plan. 

 

Responsibilities 

  • Receive and unload materials.  

  • Set barricades.  

  • Unload barricades.  

  • Load barricades.  

 

Minimum Requirements 

  • Job requirement to work in all elements I.E (hot, cold) 

  • A valid rivers license  

  • Ability to obtain certification by Texas Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) in “Work Zone traffic Control”. 

  • Less than high school education; or up to one-month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance. 

  • Extensive physical activity performing strenuous daily activities of a primarily productive/technical nature. 

  • Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items, works with the fingers, and perceives attributes of objects and materials.

Position Summary

Responsible for responding to incidents on provincial highways. Incidents include traffic accidents, spills, and emergency situations which affect the highway and the safety of the travelling public, and other emergency situations within the right of way which affect the highway. Required to assist provincial and local police and emergency response services in incidents and accidents.
