The Drainage Design Manager position requires a solid understanding of transportation projects, a strong foundation of hydrologic and hydraulics engineering principles, and solid communication skills. Work is this role requires extensive technical experience with additional limited management experience.
Duties:
- Reviews and documents design decisions, calculations, conclusions, and makes recommendations in reports, project documentation, letters, or memorandums;
- Conducts drainage analysis and design per the requirements of the project and VDOT;
- Oversees all aspects of the project development for the drainage discipline;

As a Structural EIT, you will work on a variety of civil infrastructure projects, mainly large-scale Design & Build Projects across the US, either the bidding phase or the construction phase. You will have the opportunity to learn and improve the company standards for structural and bridge design. You will become part of a team that supports all parts of the structural design process by proposing innovative solutions, performing and reviewing structural calculations. The role
Ferrovial Construction is looking to appoint a Lawyer to join its legal team in the UK.
The successful candidate will have access to a comprehensive range of work, and will be the dedicated legal resource for Ferrovial Construction’s work at Heathrow Airport as well as Ferrovial Construction’s civils business. The key focus of the role is to protect the position of Ferrovial Construction through strong and effective contract creation and administration. This is a broad ‘hands on’ role within a small legal team in the UK, which works closely with the group head office in Madrid.
The role is mainly based in London and is ideally suited to a construction lawyer who is keen to work hand-in-hand with the relevant project teams.

Qualifications / Experience
- Degree/Masters in Architecture, Engineering or Construction Management.
- Experience in construction, project management, or a related field.
- Proven track record of delivering construction projects on time and within budget.
- Familiarity with project management software and tools.

- Lead and manage projects from start to finish, ensuring that they are delivered on time, to budget, and within the required quality standards.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to facilitate project success and communicate regularly to keep them informed of project progress and address any issues .
- Establish project objectives, scope, and timeline, and ensure that they are communicated clearly to all relevant parties.
- Planning and design Coordination during pre-construction and construction phase.
- Plan and manage project resources (personnel, equipment, materials) to ensure efficient project execution.
- Monitor and control project costs and budgets, and report progress and risks.
- Manage project risks and issues and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Forecast work ahead of the programmes and recommend extra resources or alternative work processes when necessary to maintain or increase performance.
- Identify and recommend solutions to design issues whilst taking into account engineering procedure and the construction schedule
- Manage the site team whilst taking into account personnel issues and staff training and development

Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for the management of the overall design delivery of the Calvert Infrastructure Maintenance Depot, from Scheme Design stage through Detailed Design, fabrication/manufacturing designs, construction and As-built stage.
- Responsible for coordinating and leading the design for the Calvert IMD (Buildings, railway elements and all other facilities), closely supervising the Designers and specialist design subcontractors/suppliers during the design, construction and handover of the works. Including integration of PW and any TW design stages, integration of design assurance and managing the delivery of the associated digital deliverables, in line with the construction and overall project programme, cost and client requirements.
- Responsible for the design deliverables for securing the Permanent Works consents (and its coordination with Temporary Works designs), and support obtaining such consents through engagement with the Stakeholders / Consenting team/individuals.
- Attending the weekly meetings with the construction team and broader design team and client in Birmingham, Calvert and/or London. Attending / chairing meetings for Calvert IMD design issues and manage their mitigation.
- Support and coordinate with the Calvert construction team any design issues, engaging with their key subcontractors and the Designers, as well with the suppliers in respect of fabrication designs.
- Support the client with identifying change, risk and opportunities and constantly striving for efficiencies and cost savings. Lead on the definition and assessment of optimizations and liaison with the commercial, planning, design delivery teams, and designers.
- Provide technical input and support to relevant commercial communications (SNCs, NCRs, CEs, Departures, etc.)
- Close liaison with the Engineering Director and the Track design lead and delivery directors, to ensure the integration of Contractor’s design, management of interfaces, and design delivery on time, optimized and in accordance with the Client’s requirements is essential.
- Lead the management of all interfaces (internal and external, including consenting as required) to ensure an integrated and constructible design, and evidencing the adequate interface management.
- Responsible for reviewing and reporting design delivery performance for the Calvert IMD (to include cost, programme, contract, scope, progress, change, compliance, governance etc.), in liaison and with support from the project controls and commercial teams.
- Manages the progressive delivery of technical assurance during design, construction and handover. Ensures compliance with the CDM Regulations.
Key skills and experience
- Degree in Civil Engineering / Railway Engineer /Architecture
- Understanding and knowledge of building codes and standards, zoning regulations, building construction, building systems and site requirements.
- Experience in managing railway depot designs; experience in managing large railway station buildings or other complex buildings
- Demonstrable knowledge of the application, principles, coordination of disciplines: architectural design, MEP and railway engineering.
- Experience in managing designers, managing liaison with third parties, stakeholders and other contractors.
- Very good communication and organizational skills

Job Overview:
As Roadway Senior Engineer, you will work on a variety of civil infrastructure projects, mainly large-scale Design&Build projects across the United States for either the bidding and the construction phases. You will perform a wide range of civil-design-related tasks and collaborate with other professional peers who will coordinate with you or work under your supervision.
You will have the opportunity to learn the company’s standards for roadway design and develop expertise in roadway design managerial processes. Under the supervision and mentoring of Ferrovial Construction US Design Department, you will receive the technical support and resources needed to advance your career by participating in large-scale projects within a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Perform roadway design on complex highway D&B and PPP projects, both during the tender and detail design stages of the procurement process.
- Coordinate the design works with a team of design consultants, performing design supervision and reviews on designs performed by consultants to Ferrovial.
- Coordinate all aspects of roadway design with the other discipline managers: Geotech, drainage, structures, MEP, and environmental.
- Manage of internal roadway design team to self-perform design activities on specific project, ensuring accountability for design development and quality control for the self-performing design process.
- Prepare in-house preliminary designs to provide cost-effective solutions and value engineering.
- Supervise the preparation of design packages and reports ensuring the project schedule and budget are met. Development of design specifications.
- Responsible for the preparation of roadway quantities on tenders, supervising and reviewing the BOQ prepare by the design consultants, and internal developing complementary quantities for critical elements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, obtained from an accredited US College or University.
- Master's Degree in Transportation Engineering is a plus.
- 7+ years of experience in roadway design.
- Experience with Bentley MicroStation software. Skilled in using the Open Road Designer is a must.
- Attention to detail with data collection, data management, and record-keeping.
- Ability to read and interpret construction documents, drawings, and specifications.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work on teams in a fast-track environment and interface with Clients, Designers, and the Construction teams.
