Job Description:
Reporting to Energy Infrastructure Director, the Australian Head of Development of Transmission Projects manages the origination and development of transmission lines and related infrastructure (substations) in Australia, in alignment with the business targets.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitoring Transmission public and private tenders with the relevant authorities and counterparties.
- Negotiate and secure, directly or with consultants, rights over project land (when and if required), keeping good relationship with landowners.
- Lead the permitting process, ensuring all the project permits, licenses and authorizations are obtained in time and within budget.
- Manage the grid access and interconnection process with the relevant ISO/utility.
- Manage with consultants, advisors and engineers the project design targeting to minimize environmental & social impact, completion schedules and costs whilst maintaining technical requirements.
- Risk assessment related to the locations where to develop and build transmission projects.
- Find and implement solutions to ensure the feasibility of projects from the investment and financing point of view.
- Establish commercial and/or strategic relationships with potential clients, partners or collaborators in each market.
- Contracting and management of services providers, consultants and advisors supporting the development activities.
- Maintain relationships with local, regional and national administrations (public and private), DNO/TSO/ISO and other entities/agencies for the expedited processing of permits, licenses and authorizations.
- Interacts and support construction and businesses areas, being the main point of competence for its area of knowledge.
- Leadership and management of its development team (when applicable).
REQUIREMENTS
- Engineering degree associated with electrical power systems and/or electrical engineering. Other education levels will be considered if relevant experience is proven.
- Proven track record and experience in a similar role for more than 8 years.
- Experience in negotiating Concession type of projects with public counterparties.
- Candidates with experience of working directly for TSO/DSOs or other transmission related parties are preferred. Familiar with project development.
- Good understanding of public tenders, interconnection process and agreements.
- Available to travel as per projects/opportunities needs.
- Strong communication and collaborative skills, strategic vision, push to make things happen and appetite to succeed and commercially astute.
- Proactive, autonomous, flexible and being able to prioritize. Anticipation capacity and problem solver and solution provider.

Role:
Responsible for the management of the architectural aspects in the Calvert Integrated Maintenance Depot. The architectural design works include the design and construction of several buildings in the Calvert site.
The candidate will be responsible for coordinating and leading the architectural and fit out design for the buildings in Calvert IMD, closely supervising the Designers and specialist subcontractors during the design, construction and handover of the works. This will include the integration of PW and any TW / temporary stages, integration of assurance and managing the delivery of the associated digital deliverables, in line with the construction and overall project programme, cost and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Attending the weekly meetings with the construction team and broader design team and client in Birmingham, Calvert and/or London. Attending / chairing meetings for architectural issues and provide technical support for their mitigation.
- Support the client with identifying change, risk and opportunities and constantly striving for efficiencies and cost savings. A key aspect of the architectural design is to ensure the design is compliant with the planning application (applied by the client) and therefore the candidate will be responsible to liaise with the Consents Manager to lead any architectural aspects related to this.
- Support the client in achieving the architectural vision and key design principles of ‘softening’, ‘simplifying’ and ‘humanising’ the Calvert Depot.
- Responsible for any architectural aspects related to sustainability in Calvert IMD, including the target BREEAM rating.
- Aid in the study of optimization and liaison with the commercial, planning, design delivery teams, and designers.
- Support and coordinate with the Calvert construction team any architectural related issues, engaging with their key subcontractors and the Designers, particularly the Contractor’s Architect.

- Responsible for analysing the hand over data from the Main Works for the frost protection layer as well as the subgrade for aspects such as heave, settlements and constructability geotechnical topics for our track.
- Manage and lead any geotechnical aspects related to Calvert depot, including piling works and earthworks movements in the site, providing the foundation required to the IMD building and railhead.

Manage the input from rail specialists, other design disciplines and N&V specialist in their area (in situ and/or standard slab), making sure that the design complies with the client’s Environmental Minimum Requirements.

Key skills and experience
- Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering (or related field).
- Chartereed IMEC, PWAy Institute or CEng ICE desirable.
- Experience relevant to rial track on major construction projects, including design, modeling, or construction support.
- A sound understanding of rail design codes.
- Knowledge of safety and environmental legislation, impact mitigation and dealing with statutory authorities.
- Experience in managing and liaising with third parties and other contractors
- Very good communication skills

Key Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate the S&C design throughout the design and construction technical life cycles, working with the design and construction teams, the S&C supplier and stakeholders. Ensure the S&C design comply with the appropriate client’s standards applicable, including construction design management (CDM) regulations.
- Responsible for the S&C design delivery aspects for high-speed track contract, including integration of PW and any TW / temporary stages, integration of assurance and managing the delivery of the associated digital deliverables, in line with the construction and overall project programme, cost and client requirements. The track systems S&C scope include the development of several types of S&C across numerous locations, and implies coordination with CMS, other rail system elements as well as with the civil works designs.
- The candidate will be responsible for coordinating the designers and the supply chain inputs needed to achieve an efficient and compliant design for the S&Cs.

Qualifications
Ten (10) or more years of heavy highway and civil construction as a superintendent. High School Diploma or GED. Ability to communicate in English via verbal and written communications using proper grammar and spelling. Preference will be given to those who are bilingual in English and Spanish. Moderate level of computer skills in MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, and internet search engines. Mathematical proficiency as it relates to basic accounting, geometry, algebra, and mathematics.
