Its track-record to date includes more than 490 km of tunnels, 19,200 km of roads (including 4,000 km of highways), 4,700 km of railroad lines (including 700 km of high-speed railroads) and 27,350 km of road maintenance and repair.
Project Description:
The Ontario Line South Civil Project is responsible for the design, construction and handover of all tunnels, stations and civil works between Exhibition Station and a portal location within the Don Yard. This includes, without limitation, seven Stations (one at grade and six underground stations), 6 km of Tunnels, a range of civil works and ancillary building works, and successful handover of the constructed South Civil
Duties:
The Design Manager will be responsible for ensuring technical quality during the design development on Ontario Line South and will lead the Technical Office during construction up to Final Completion of the project. They will have strong technical relationships with design consultants and will engage directly with the client and their technical advisors during the design process.

Leads technical proposals, writes technical component, conceptualizes and develops technical packets.

Responsible for the development and implementation of the Design Management Plan for the project.

Leads the design development and manage high performance design teams and designers in charge of the Detailed Design.

Responsible for ensuring the design complies with health, safety, environmental and quality requirements.

Manages the Design and Technical Office budget providing updates and forecast as required. Review and validate design consultants’ payments.

Promote, explore and materialise value engineering opportunities throughout the design process and contributes to identify and develop new technical opportunities and optimizations.

Managing processes related to the project's design to ensure that everything is delivered to schedule and budget, working very closely with estimators, quantity surveyors, site managers and other key members of the project team

Responsible for the design submissions to the Client and for resolving the comments received from them.

Managing the Construction Technical Office during the construction period, coordinating with designers, construction teams and client the Design Changes and Request for Information reports.

Responsible to provide the necessary technical support to the construction team to develop the construction means and methods.

Supporting the team to compile the necessary documentation to achieve Substantial Completion and Final Completion after the commissioning process.

Provides technical support to the Quality and Construction team on resolving the Non-conformance Reports

Support the Survey Manager to manage the Survey teams.

Requirements:

Civil Engineer
-
Professional Engineer (PE) license in state of work preferred.

Minimum of 10 years of experience including similar positions in major urban infrastructure projects.

Knowledge of design principles for tunneling, structure, and geotechnical engineering.

Proficiency in the use of standard Microsoft Office products and Design software

Highly proficient in spoken and written English Minimum Requirements
