Project Details

LBJ Express was created and is operated through a public-private partnership (P3) with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). The $2.7 billion project spans 13.3 miles along I-635 and I-35E in Dallas/Fort Worth, offering innovative congestion-management solutions and a choice for drivers through TEXpress Lanes.

Recognized as one of the most comprehensive and complex transportation projects in the United States, the initiative covers the I-635/LBJ Freeway and the I-35E/Stemmons Freeway. LBJIG oversees design, development, operations and maintenace, which officially opened in September 2015. It offers variable pricing based on traffic demand to maintain predictable speeds.
