Summary
The Senior Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for heavy civil construction projects, including highways, bridges, tunnels, and other infrastructure works. This role requires a deep understanding of construction methodologies, materials, and industry standards.
Regular Job Duties
- Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare detailed cost estimates.

Location: Heathrow Airport

Ferrovial Construction has been working at Heathrow Airport for over 12 years delivering some of the most complex infrastructure projects to high quality, safety and environmental standards. We have focused on design and build projects with a mix of contractual arrangements. This has enabled us to refine our management procedures in response to Heathrow’s Employers Requirements and Ferrovial Construction own internal management systems.
Since joining Heathrow’s framework, Ferrovial Construction has delivered a variety of airside and landside projects across the whole airport. For example, we have delivered new taxiways and rehabilitated existing taxiways and the southern runway. We have also redeveloped sterile and grass areas and replaced critical assets, such as fire main, fuel main and HV ducts. We are currently working alongside Heathrow to rehabilitate assets with expired design life’s and plan for a future runway resurfacing project. We are constantly designing and planning our works around critical assets and engaging with different key stakeholders in order to deliver Heathrow value for money.
The Role:
The MEP Section Engineer is responsible for managing a section of the construction works to ensure successful project delivery in line with client requirements, programme objectives, and business targets, while maintaining the highest standards of health and safety, quality, environmental compliance, and cost control.
The role involves overseeing multiple work packages and construction activities, ensuring they are delivered safely, efficiently, to specification, and in accordance with the agreed programme, while maximising commercial performance.
Working closely with the Commercial team, Site Engineers, Surveyors, and wider project stakeholders, the MEP Section Engineer will coordinate and drive project delivery, ensuring client expectations are consistently met or exceeded throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead by example in promoting a strong culture of health, safety and environmental compliance.
- Supervise subcontractors, Site Engineers, Assistant Engineers and the workforce, ensuring all parties understand and adhere to approved RAMS and construction methodologies.
- Review and verify setting out activities to ensure accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
- Support and mentor MEP engineers, ensuring responsibilities such as material testing, quality records, task briefings and inspections are completed effectively.
- Maintain high standards of engineering records, including survey documentation and site diaries.
- Attend and, where required, chair coordination meetings with stakeholders, subcontractors and internal teams.
- Ensure drawings, specifications and 3D model information are complete, accurate and suitable for construction, raising requests for information in a timely manner to avoid programme delays.
- Ensure Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) are completed and digitally recorded in accordance with project and contractual requirements.
- Develop, review and monitor short-term programmes (2-4 weeks) with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure planned progress is achieved.
- Monitor MEP site activities to ensure compliance with company policies, procedures and statutory requirements, promptly addressing any unsafe conditions or non-conformances.
- Monitor plant, labour, material usage and programme performance to support efficient project delivery.
- Prepare material take-offs, requisitions and procurement requirements as directed.
- Produce and review construction documentation, including Method Statements, Inspection and Test Plans, Material Approval Requests and Task Briefings.
- Manage material orders and maintain accurate procurement records.
- Prepare Temporary Works Design Briefs and inspect temporary works following the appropriate training and authorisation.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with clients, designers, subcontractors and the wider supply chain.
- Communicate key construction information clearly to supervisors, foremen and operatives to ensure works are delivered safely and correctly.
- Maintain accurate records of instructions, variations and additional works, ensuring supporting resource records are captured and retained.
- Ensure delivery tickets are correctly coded and submitted for processing.
- Undertake any other duties appropriate to the role and level of responsibility.
Key Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience in a supervisory or engineering management role within MEP engineering, infrastructure, or utility construction projects.
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies, engineering principles, and civil/MEP engineering best practice.
- Demonstrated commercial awareness with an understanding of contract administration and project controls.
- Experience working in a cost-conscious environment with responsibility for programme, resource and budget performance.
- Effective people management and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and develop teams.
- Experience managing subcontractors and coordinating multiple work packages.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, including experience working with clients, designers, suppliers and regulatory bodies.
- Proven ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

The Role:
The Civils Section Engineer is responsible for managing a section of the construction works to ensure successful project delivery in line with client requirements, programme objectives, and business targets, while maintaining the highest standards of health and safety, quality, environmental compliance, and cost control.
The role involves overseeing multiple work packages and construction activities, ensuring they are delivered safely, efficiently, to specification, and in accordance with the agreed programme, while maximising commercial performance.
Working closely with the Commercial team, Site Engineers, Surveyors, and wider project stakeholders, the Civils Section Engineer will coordinate and drive project delivery, ensuring client expectations are consistently met or exceeded throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead by example in promoting a strong culture of health, safety and environmental compliance.
- Supervise subcontractors, Site Engineers, Assistant Engineers and the workforce, ensuring all parties understand and adhere to approved RAMS and construction methodologies.
- Review and verify setting out activities to ensure accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
- Support and mentor engineers, ensuring responsibilities such as material testing, quality records, task briefings and inspections are completed effectively.
- Maintain high standards of engineering records, including survey documentation and site diaries.
- Attend and, where required, chair coordination meetings with stakeholders, subcontractors and internal teams.
- Ensure drawings, specifications and 3D model information are complete, accurate and suitable for construction, raising requests for information in a timely manner to avoid programme delays.
- Ensure Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) are completed and digitally recorded in accordance with project and contractual requirements.
- Develop, review and monitor short-term programmes (2-4 weeks) with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure planned progress is achieved.
- Monitor site activities to ensure compliance with company policies, procedures and statutory requirements, promptly addressing any unsafe conditions or non-conformances.
- Monitor plant, labour, material usage and programme performance to support efficient project delivery.
- Prepare material take-offs, requisitions and procurement requirements as directed.
- Produce and review construction documentation, including Method Statements, Inspection and Test Plans, Material Approval Requests and Task Briefings.
- Manage material orders and maintain accurate procurement records.
- Prepare Temporary Works Design Briefs and inspect temporary works following the appropriate training and authorisation.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with clients, designers, subcontractors and the wider supply chain.
- Communicate key construction information clearly to supervisors, foremen and operatives to ensure works are delivered safely and correctly.
- Maintain accurate records of instructions, variations and additional works, ensuring supporting resource records are captured and retained.
- Ensure delivery tickets are correctly coded and submitted for processing.
- Undertake any other duties appropriate to the role and level of responsibility.

* Planificar, organizar y dirigir los procesos de producción en obra, garantizando el cumplimiento de los estándares de calidad y seguridad.

Requisitos:

Descripción del rol:
Resumen del Puesto**
Buscamos un/a Jefe/a de Producción de Tuneladora experimentado/a para unirse a nuestro equipo en Barcelona. El/la candidato/a ideal supervisará y coordinará todas las operaciones de la tuneladora, asegurando la eficiencia, la seguridad y el cumplimiento de los plazos y presupuestos del proyecto.
Responsabilidades del Puesto**
* Supervisar la planificación, organización y ejecución de las operaciones de la tuneladora, incluyendo la excavación, el revestimiento y los sistemas de soporte.
* Gestionar y liderar el equipo de producción de la tuneladora, incluyendo operarios, mecánicos y personal de soporte.
* Asegurar el cumplimiento de las normativas de seguridad, salud y medio ambiente en todas las actividades relacionadas con la tuneladora.
* Controlar el progreso del proyecto, identificando y resolviendo cualquier desviación o problema que pueda surgir.
* Optimizar los procesos de producción para mejorar la eficiencia y reducir los costes.
* Colaborar con otros departamentos y subcontratistas para garantizar la correcta integración de las actividades.
* Elaborar informes de producción, análisis de rendimiento y propuestas de mejora.
* Gestionar el mantenimiento preventivo y correctivo de la tuneladora y equipos asociados.
Cualificaciones del Puesto**
* Ingeniería Civil, Ingeniería de Minas o titulación similar.
* Experiencia mínima de 5 años en un puesto similar, con experiencia demostrable en la gestión de tuneladoras (TBM).
* Sólidos conocimientos de técnicas de excavación de túneles, geología y geotecnia.
* Conocimiento profundo de las normativas de seguridad y salud en la construcción de túneles.
* Capacidad de liderazgo, gestión de equipos y resolución de problemas.
* Habilidad para trabajar bajo presión y cumplir plazos ajustados.
* Fluidez en español, valorable conocimientos de inglés o catalán.
* Disponibilidad para trabajar en Barcelona y, en ocasiones, en horarios flexibles.
* Carnet de conducir B.
